I’ve
enjoyed this series. There is absolutely no need at all to read these in order,
however, it was fun to be slightly familiar with Neve as the book began. The
author does a great job bringing the serious effects of war into a sexy
romance. She gives the characters depth and realism by not treating them as
though they can brush off the experiences of war and jump feet first into
happiness.
By a funny twist of fate, Neve and
Rory end up pen pals. They spend months getting to know each other through
letters, email, and even the occasional skype or phone call. In fact, they
become best friends. Best friends with a raging attraction. When Rory comes
home on leave, he is surprised by Neve who has arrived to bring his fantasy to
life for one night. It’s Neve who ends up with the biggest shock when another
girl from Rory’s life announces that they are engaged, after they light the
back store room of Rory’s family bar on fire with their lust, of course.
Rory eventually makes it back from
the last of his tour and heads straight for Neve, wanting to clear up the
misunderstanding and hopefully have a last fling with Neve before he moves on
with his life.
It certainly isn’t going to be an
easy task. Neve is as stubborn and strong as they come, but he also sees beyond
her exterior to the soft, sweet, and wounded woman beneath. When Neve becomes
deathly ill, Rory demands to help her on her road to recovery and Neve is too
tired to fight him on it. Their chemistry is no less potent, but due to her
sickness, Neve and Rory are given the opportunity to spend time getting to know
each other away from the bedroom.
Unfortunately, their own stubborn
ideas about life, and outside circumstances in the way, it doesn’t look like
these two are destined to be together.
Neve and Rory are really fun
characters. I enjoyed their personalities and it gave a lighter side to a story
that could have been a real downer. Neve’s stubborn attitude got on my nerves
toward the end, but Rory’s stupidity gave her a tiny bit of justification.
With Neve being sick, we spend a
good portion of the story with just Neve and Rory in Neve’s home. However, the
author does a great job keeping the readers interest and throws in enough
interaction with great secondary characters to give the story some flavor.
The story did drag just a hair for
me. I felt a little like we were going in circles until they story finally
moved beyond the “will we, won’t we” tug of war. However, it wasn’t so much as
to turn me off of the book. I very much enjoyed it.
This is a steamy, interesting story
and I think it’s worth the read!

not had an easy time since she’s been gone.” Rachel’s soft voice didn’t rouse
his sympathy.
The
soothing warmth he was receiving from his sister’s hand on his arm didn’t
dispel the churning anger in his stomach, and Tate refused to talk about Sutton
any longer.
Rachel
sighed. “Your temper is going to be your downfall, Tate. Greer may be a hothead,
but he gets over it fast. You hold a grudge forever.”
“Yes,
I do.” He and Cash had a contentious past over women, but the only one Cash had
succeeded in angering him over was Sutton.
“You’re
an asshole. I never touched Sutton, but you’re not going to change your mind despite
me telling you the truth. Ask me about any woman in town, and I’ll tell you the
truth; why would I lie about her?”
“Maybe
because your wife is sitting right here,” Tate replied sarcastically.
“I’ve
never denied my past to Rachel,” Cash snapped back.

snorted. “You didn’t care about Sutton. You let her go easily enough. If you
were as into her as you’re acting, you would have whipped my ass over her.
Greer tried to give me a beating over that slut Diane. You just asked Lisa to
the prom, instead. You were just tired of having blue balls, and it gave you
the excuse to do what you wanted to do all along.”
“Which
was what?” Tate snarled.
“Breakup
with Sutton and fuck Lisa.”
Tate
stood, his chair scrapping back. “I’ve gotta go before I knock the shit out of
you. I can’t afford to do any jail time right now. Bye, Rach.”
“Tate!”
He
ignored his sister trying to call him back. He didn’t bother paying his bill,
either, knowing Cash would take care of it. The son of a bitch deserved to pay
his tab.
"I
was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their
way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever
known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and
education.
Taking
after my mother, I've always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say
so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through
many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love
the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.
For
now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who
both graduated this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my
son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

I say it with every one of her reviews, but it’s not less
true now that it was before. I am NEVER disappointed by an Aurora Rose Reynolds
book! She is not only an automatic 1-click for me, she is a “stop what you are
doing right this minute and read” author. I love revisiting all of Aurora’s
previous characters, and moving from parents to children makes me feel like I’m
growing with the family ad becoming a part of it.
There is something so enticing about the “Boom” in the
Mayson family. And, watching them each fall victim to it makes every persons
story just a little more special. Jax was cute as a little kid, but daaaaamn,
he is a panty-melting, swoon-worthy man. The moment he meets Ellie…BOOM! Not only
do sparks fly, but his heart is forever lost to her. As is traditional, Jax
doesn’t mess about. He’s found the one and he won’t stop until she’s his
completely.
To a certain extent, Jax differs a little from the other
men in the family because he has more patience in waiting for Ellie to come
around. It takes her a bit longer and while I know he struggles with wanting
her, he holds back and doesn’t overwhelm her. Their physical relationship takes
a slightly longer course, but that kind of makes for a heck of a lot more
sexual tension. Fanning yourself, sweating, and squirming in your seat, sexual
tension.
Jax takes to Ellie’s daughter as though she was his own,
falling as much for her as he does for Ellie. He is sweet and loving,
determined to make them happy and keep them protected.
Ellie has had it rough. Her childhood and aduly life have
been riddled with pain, disappointment, and fear. I can only imagine that being
sold by her mother into human trafficking is the worst of it. But, Ellie is
resilient and determined to get somewhere in life, make the best of things for
herself and her daughter. Enter…Jax Mayson.
Ellie knows there is something between them, but she is understandably
hesitant. As Jax coaxes her to believe in him, in their future, she falls for
him, hard. However, Ellie’s a bit stubborn and from time to time, I wanted to
sit her down and tell her to stop being so obstinate and refusing to accept
what is in front of her.
She has a great personality though, and her little girl
is adorable and hilarious. Aurora’s
characters are always so engaging and Jax, Ellie, & Hope immersed me in
their story. It’s easy to forget that they only exist between the pages of my
book and when it was over, I had to go back and start reading the rest of the
Until Series books to cure my hangover.
As always, 5 fantastical stars and I eagerly await the
next release!

around herself or tucking her body into a tight ball. It’s like she’s forcing
herself to stay together.
“I told you I got you,
baby,” I say gently, wanting more than anything to take her hand in mine, but
every time I touch her, she freezes up like she’s waiting for me to strike out
at her, and I would be lying if I said that didn’t piss me the fuck off. It
does; it feels like a slap in the face every time it happens.
“I know,” she whispers, and
the tears I hear in her voice cause a sharp pain in my chest.
Fuck.
“This is the turnoff.” Her
feet go to the floorboard and her hands to the dash as she sits up taller,
moving her face closer to the windshield. We drive up a long dirt driveway with
forest and the occasional broken down car on each side. When we make it to the
top of the hill, a singlewide trailer comes into view, with junk cars and
garbage piled up out front.
As soon as I come to a stop,
she opens her door and hops out before I can tell her to keep her little ass in
the cab. I don’t even know how I’m going to deal with the range of emotions
that have settled over me since seeing her for the first time.
“Fucking Boom,” I mutter,
getting out behind her and doubling my steps until I’m able to reach her side,
where I wrap my hand around her waist and pull her closer to me. She’s so
fucking tiny that the top of her dark head sits right at my chest. So fragile,
from her too soft skin to her petite size. And she’s mine.
