DUKES PREFER BLONDES
The Dressmakers #4
Loretta Chase
Releasing December 29th,2015
Avon Books

Lady Clara, the fan-favorite character from Loretta Chase’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Dressmakers series, finally gets her own happily ever after!

Convenient marriages are rarely so…exciting. Can society’s most adored heiress and London’s most difficult bachelor fall victim to their own unruly desires?

Biweekly marriage proposals from men who can’t see beyond her (admittedly breathtaking) looks are starting to get on Lady Clara Fairfax’s nerves. Desperate to be something more than ornamental, she escapes to her favorite charity. When a child goes missing, she turns to Oliver Radford—a handsome, brilliant, excessively conceited barrister.

Having unexpectedly found himself in line to inherit a dukedom, Radford needs a bride who can navigate the Society he’s never been part of. If he can find one without having to set foot in a ballroom, so much the better. Clara—blonde, blue-eyed, and he must admit, not entirely bereft of brains—will do. As long as he can woo her, wed her—and not, like every other sapskull in London, lose his head over her…

5 stars!!

I have to say the Dukes Prefer Blondes was a whole lot more than I expected!! From the title and the cover I was not expecting the well written historical romance that we got from Loretta Chase. This story has a little bit of everything you want in a good romance with just the right amount of it all.

Lady Clara has been showered with marriage proposals from men that she has no interest in. She knows that these proposals are coming for her wealth and stature, and not for true love. Lady Clara knows what she is looking for in a man and none of these are it. When she is finally done with these proposals, she loses herself in a favorite past time that makes her feel good about herself and what she does, helping young ladies learn how to make dresses.  When one if the girls comes up missing, Lady Clara takes it upon herself to find her. Lady Clara knows that she will not be taken seriously because she is a woman and women don't get much respect in these days.

When Lady Clara meets back up with one of her old friends, she knows that he is just the right person for the job of helping her find this missing girl and bringing justice to those that took her. When we have the first encounter of Oliver and Lady Clara, you get to see how there was something there from the very beginning. Sparks fly between these two each time they meet. No denying that. I have to admit too that I loved the banter and dialogue that went on between Oliver and Lady Clara.  They kept me wanting to read more and to see how things would turn out for them. Lady Clara was quick to speak her mind and she didn't really care what others thought.

This was such a great read and I cannot wait for the next books by Loretta Chase. She truly knows how to write historical romance and her reference to the time period is unmatched.
