A gripping new romantic thriller
from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Griffin...
The moment detective Reed Novak
steps onto the crime scene, he knows the case is going to rock his world. A
beautiful young woman murdered at home. No sign of forced entry. No motive.
She’s obviously not the killer’s first victim, and Reed’s instincts tell him
she won’t be his last. Reed’s first clue comes via a mysterious text that links
to a dating profile, but even more intriguing than the clue is the person who
sent it.
As a white-hat hacker in the Delphi
Center’s cyber investigation unit, Laney Knox sneaks into some of the deepest,
darkest corners of the Internet looking for predators. Laney would prefer to
stay away from Austin PD’s most recent murder case, but she can’t ignore the
chilling similarities between that crime and her own brutal attack years ago.
Laney offers to help the sexy lead detective, but he wants more from her than
just a promising tip—Reed wants her trust. Laney resists, but as their
relationship deepens she’s tempted to reveal the closely guarded secrets that
could make her a key witness…or the killer’s next victim.

A 5 Star Read!
Deep Dark is the tenth book in the series by Laura Griffin and
the first book that I have read by her. What have I been missing all my life?!!??!
It was FANTASTIC! Since I have finished it, I have gone back and started
reading the first books in the series and they are just as good! Although Deep
Dark still is, and I think will always be, my favorite.
Laney Knox is a hacker for the Delphi Center’s cyber unit in
Texas. The Delphi Center is an enormous forensics lab that studies many topics,
and who work closely with the local police and FBI. The entire series is set
around the center, as well as the local police department and members of the FBI.
Reed Novak is a police officer who is investigating a series of unexplainable
murders. Laney and Reed get thrown together while investigating those murders,
and start falling for each other while racing to catch a killer. A killer who
may or may not have Laney in his sights.
Deep Dark is a suspenseful romance- it had the perfect mix of
both. The amount of detail that Ms. Griffin puts into her books is mind
boggling. The science alone is incredibly detailed and I have learned a great
deal about forensics just by reading. I couldn’t put down Deep Dark and I have
had a hard time putting down any of her other books either. I can’t even begin
to imagine the research that goes into writing these. It helps that there is a
great storyline mixed in with the CSI, as well as the right amount of sexual
tension that builds and builds before exploding in a wonderfully created and
HOT sex scenes.
Laney is highly intelligent and doesn’t back down when she
knows that she is right. She will not be intimidated, and won’t let her past
dictate her future. She is a strong character and I loved her. Reed is a
classic alpha male, and he wants Laney. Her being connected to his case makes
things difficult, but he will have her, even if she drives him crazy. His
protective streak is a mile wide and I thought that they complimented one
another perfectly.
Deep Dark really has it all. The writing is phenomenal, the
level of detail is off the scale, the romance factor is there and the sex is
hot. In addition, there is suspense and twists that I never saw coming. This is
not your run of the mill suspense story where there’s a beginning, a middle,
and an end. No, Deep Dark is over 350 pages of stories within stories, twists
within twists, and the best damn (CSI) book ever.
If you can’t already tell, I FLOVED this book and I don’t
normally read suspenseful/CSI books. I liked it so much that I’m breaking the
bank to read the rest of the series. I can’t recommend this book, as well at
the entire series, enough. It’s like the TV series Bones, just waaaayyyy better.
There will be no disappointments as Deep Dark is one of the best damn books I
have ever read ever.
