Title: Once Upon A Time
Author: S.K. Hartley
Genre: Romantic Comedy | Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: S.K. Hartley
I don't believe in fairy tales. I don't believe in glass slippers. I don't believe in Prince-Freaking-Charming.
Cinderella can kiss my ass.
I kiss frogs, sometimes even toads. I've given up on meeting Mr. Right, instead it seems all I meet is Mr. Wrong, Mr. Very-Wrong and even, Mr. Lets-Not-Even-Go-There.
Fairy tales are for morons.
Well, that's what I thought until Gabriel Black barged through my life, turning everything upside down. He's hot, sexy and little rough around the edges. But, he's hiding something, something deep. I can feel it, taste it and smell it.
Now I'm left wondering if he's my Prince Charming or my fairy tale villain. Will I ride away safely into the night, dreaming of happily ever afters? Or, will I stumble and fall in ridiculously high heels only meant for women with a death wish?
Once Upon A Time... I met Gabriel Black.
5 Stars
When I
first read the summary of this book I thought for sure it was going to be
another fairy tale sort of book, but I was shocked when I started reading!!
Payton is far from your fairy tale girl and actually hates the thought of fairy
tales because of past heartbreak! She has her friends Quinn and Kylie that are
pretty much her world and the only people that she hangs out with. Payton is so
focused on being successful in her career that she does not think about guys
too much. When the three of them go out one night and Payton literally falls
into Gabriel's office, she is completely shocked and surprised at the turn of
events that take place!! There is such a connection that you can feel even as a
reader between these two that you immediately start rooting for them to get
together. Payton is not an easy target for Gabriel though and plays super hard
to get because of her fear of falling in love again!
Gabriel is a man who knows what he wants and will do anything he can to go
after his prize! Despite Payton being downright rude and pushing him away every
chance she gets, Gabriel is very persistent and presses forward as well. At
first he doesn't use his money to go after Payton and I liked that about him.
He had to fight for her without bribing her with gifts. The longer their
relationship went on, Gabriel did start to shower Payton with gifts, which she
was not fond of our used to. Payton was from a hick town and was not used to
having money. Eventually Payton gives into her love for Gabriel and does not
push her feelings away anymore. Gabriel makes his move and goes after his prize
even more, showing Payton that he knew what he wanted all along.
I love that this book had a HEA and would love to know more of what comes of
Payton and Gabriel! Their love is a true love and will endure I am sure!! I
would just love to read more of their story! Thanks S.K. Hartley for a great
read and for reminding us to follow our hearts. I look forward to many more
from you!!!
