Thrown to the Wolves 3 (Black River Pack Series)
By Rochelle Paige
Annora Channing's entire world changes the moment she discovers she's a bear shifter. With mated wolves for parents, she should have been a wolf also. When
the man she grew up thinking was her father realizes she isn't his daughter, he devises a plan to use her existence to his advantage in a way that will get
her out from under his roof.
When her situation goes from bad to worse, Annora escapes but is badly injured in the process. Luckily, Elias Reve comes to her rescue while on his way to
Wolf's Point and the daughter he lost years ago. With nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to, Annora joins him on his journey and ends up running
smack-dab into the arms of her mate.
Parker Tate knows Annora is his the moment he lays eyes on her. When he manages to mate and mark her within hours of when they meet, he considers himself
lucky. Then the trouble nipping at Annora's heels finds her and Parker realizes the path to claiming his mate won't be as easy as he thought - especially
not with the bears involved.
***This is book three in the Black River Pack series. Each novella features a different couple.***
I cannot say enough how much I
love this series! Of course, I’ve never read anything by Rochelle Paige that I
haven’t loved. She is an automatic 1-click author for me. However, this series was
her first foray into the paranormal and she conquered it! In some ways, this
could be read as a standalone, however, it is definitely better if you read the
series in order, starting with Crying Wolf, then Shoot for the Moon, and lastly
Thrown to the Wolves.
The story line is creative and
I was glued to every page. The paranormal world of wolves is popular and
Rochelle could have easily fallen into the “it’s been done” category. However,
not to my surprise at all, she took on some unique twists and made it fresh and
new. As usual, I am completely head over heels for her leading man.
Parker is definitely a
character to fall in love with. Strong, loving, and sexy, sexy, did I mention
sexy? He has a bit of a hero complex, however it is stemmed from his knowledge,
through a vision of his grandmothers’, that his mate will be abandoned by her
family, and most likely in need of a white knight. This is one of my favorite
personality traits in Parker. He wants nothing more than to find his mate. When
he finds out she will finally arrive, he is relieved and so ready to love her.
The moment they finally meet, he knows she is his (enter the swoon-worthy alpha
traits) and already accepts that he loves her. It’s so freaking hot when a guy
is all about wooing his girl. And this attitude is most of what convinces
Annora to accept him as her mate immediately.
Annora has had the upbringing
from Hell. Her abusive father and weak mother have treated her terribly at it
is a wonder that she has any strength left inside her at all. When the danger
to her life hits an all-time high, due mostly to the discovery of a well-kept
secret by her mother, she is forced to flee. Luckily, she is aided by a
stranger who begins to show her that the world is not filled with the evil she
has been subjected to her whole life.
The story unfold with steamy,
toe-curling passion, love, and some suspenseful action. As a novella, it goes
quick (much to my disappointment because I wasn't ready to say goodbye) but it doesn't leave anything out. The story is well thought out and completely developed.
I read this in one sitting,
unable to tare myself away! 5 huge stars to another Rochelle Paige book that
goes on my “to be read again and again” list!
My heart raced at the thought of finally finding her—the woman who was destined to be my mate. My brothers liked to tease me about being a bit of a white
knight because I had a habit of helping women who were in distress, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing it. Ever since our grandmother had told me that
my mate would have been discarded by her family, I’d struggled with the knowledge that she could be out there somewhere, desperately in need of help,
without my being able to give it to her. So I’d compensated by aiding other women in the hope that someone else would be there for my mate when I couldn’t
be. If Eliza’s dream was right, then I might not have to wait much longer.
“When?” I rasped out. “Were there any signs pointing to when she would be here?”
“I can’t be sure,” Eliza said with a look of apology on her face. “But I feel like it might be this winter.”
“Thank fuck,” I whispered, a huge wave of relief rolling through me.
Crying Wolf (Black River Pack, #1)
Shoot For The Moon (Black River Pack, #2)
I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at
the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.
I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream
as long as you are willing to work for it.
When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"
