This was my first read by
Jamie Rae and I have to say that I am hooked. Being a military spouse, I am
very hesitant to read many military related stories, but I am so glad that I
read this one!!! Jamie did such a good job of sticking to reality in this book
that I felt like it was a real life story.
Tinklee is having a hard time dealing with her brother's death and has vowed to prove that his accident was not his own fault. Tink is in classes learning to fly the same jet that took her brother's life because it was a lifelong dream of theirs to fly together and her brother would do anything to make her happy, so he flew the same jet that Tink wanted to fly. The day before classes start, Tink has a chance encounter with a British man that she immediately falls hard for. The next day at class, Tink can hardly believe her eyes when she meets her new instructor and it is the same handsome British man that she meet the night before. They both know that they can lose their privilege to fly if they continue to see each other so they try to break it off, but feelings get in the way for both of them.
Tink deals with her struggles to overcome her guilt of her brother’s death and in the mean time she pushes away anyone that she has feelings for because she feels that it is not fair for her to be able to experience things that her brother is never going to be able to experience again. Tink blames herself for her brother's accident for months.
Tink not only meets Locke, her British instructor, but another man as well that really likes her and only adds to the confusion for her. Ace is a Special Forces soldier and is very persistent in being able to date Tink. Tink realizes that she likes Ace more as a friend than anything else and that her feelings for Locke are only beginning to develop. Ace and Locke have their differences but in the long run, end up saving each other.
Being sent away to war with her Squadron and having Ace and Locke in the same Squadron with her makes Tink realize a lot while they are away. When trouble arises with Locke, Tink has no doubt that she is in love with him and will stop at nothing to help him. Tink and Ace both risk all to save Locke.
I love the way that this story kept you wondering how it was going to end and how all the relationships would end up. I love the story line and the characters were all very likable. Jamie, you have me hooked on your writing and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for your next books!!! Thanks for an awesome read!
