About TOUGH LOVE: She's playing hard to get…to win the MMA fighter of her ultimate fantasies in a sultry new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she's not above playing a little dirty. She's wanted Stack "The Wolf" Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it casual. And her plan works—deliciously well—until Stack's past steps out of the shadows. Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he's the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about—Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they're much more than friends with benefits. He's ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who's tamed him for good?

Review - 4 Stars
I have loved the books in this
series. I fall in love with each fighter and each of the women who belong with
them. Stack and Vanity had me hooked in the last book, Holding Strong, so I
couldn’t not gobble up this story. You don’t need to read any of the previous
books, to get the full experience with Tough Love, however, it does add to the
fun a little bit. Just as getting to know the characters for the next book in
this one, will make it impossible to miss their story.
Stack
and Vanity are an explosion just waiting to happen. And when it does…oh my. I
thought I was going to be engulfed in the flames! The sexual tension between them
is practically foreplay, and sometimes that can build the event up so much that
when it finally happens, it doesn’t live up to it. That is definitely not the
case here. Scorching! There is also humor in their relationship and I loved
that too.
Stack
has a complicated family life and it unfolded in a way that came as a bit of a
surprise. The strain between him and his family is what you see in the
beginning and I wasn’t expecting to like them. So, it was interesting to find
out that his parents had a solid, affectionate marriage and that his childhood
was pretty normal. His sister is a mess, but he remains close with her and his
mother, even through all of the familial tension and differences of opinion. I
fell in love with him over and over, the sweet, alpha fighter who doesn’t
expect to be hit over the head by Cupid.
Vanity
is all alone in the world, and yet, losing her family doesn’t make as much of a
difference in her life, because she never really had them in the first place. Little
by little we uncover the mysteries behind Vanity and with every new facet I
learned, the more I liked her. It’s easy to see what Stack would fall for
beyond her looks.
As
always, the secondary characters have as much personality as the starring hero
and heroine. They add so much to the story, shaping it and giving it depth. They
create a community around Stack and Vanity that keeps you even more engaged and
interested in what is and will be happening with these them as well.
There
is an element of suspense to this book, as there is in each of the books in the
series. It heightens the story even though the focus is on the relationship
between Stack and Vanity. The plot moved the story and therefore, their
relationship forward. I will say though, it almost moved a little too fast. Not
the relationship, the suspenseful plot. I would have enjoyed seeing it build a
little more, and in the end, I felt like it tied up a little too quickly.
The
POV pops around just a little bit, not always from Stack or Vanity’s outlook,
this wouldn’t bother me if it were only one other, such as the antagonist,
however I wasn’t a fan of the 3 or 4 multiple POVs it jumped into from time to
time.
Overall,
I really enjoyed the book. I love Lori Foster’s characters, they have me
wishing I knew them in real life. I am certainly hooked on the series and will
be waiting impatiently for Armie and Merissa’s story. I highly recommend Tough
Love, and all of the other books in this series. You won’t want to miss Stack
and Vanity, they are a loveable, smoking hot, couple with an great story to
tell!
I'm a lover not a fighter :)
