This is another great read by Darcy Burke! This is book 4 in the Ribbon Ridge Series and even though I have not read the previous books, I felt like I could jump right into this one and not be lost at all. Darcy does an excellent job with catching you up to where you need to be in this story.
Alaina is a celebrity that is running from a scandal that the press has gotten word of. She is living in the garage apartment of the Archer's house because of her good friend offering her a place to stay. Alaina just needs to clear her head and get her feet back under her again before she goes back to face the paparazzi again. Little does Alaina know, she is about to meet someone that will change her life.
Evan Archer is one of the shy brothers in the family. Evan is honest and up front with everyone due to his Asperger Syndrome (AS) that he has been diagnosed with. Evan and Alaina meet because of her staying in the family garage due to Evan's brother offering it to her. When these two meet, sparks fly and Alaina knows that there is something special there.
Evan and his family have just gone through a rough time with their brother Alex committing suicide due to physical and emotional disabilities that he had. Evan is on a mission to obtain an IT job and he knows that they are going to be hiring for Alex's position in the family business so he disguises himself and applies for the job without his family having any idea. When Alex dies, he left a will and a letter for each family member stating that he wanted them to have a role in the daily operations of the family business, so everyone is trying to deal with that as well.
The problems and obstacles that Evan and Alaina have to overcome in order for their relationship to even have a chance at working out keeps you rooting for them through the whole book. I began to doubt a HEA. Will the paparazzi haunt Alaina and expose her secret about Evan and ruin her chance at real love and a family that will accept her for who she is? You have to read this great read to find out how things turn out for Alaina and Evan. I promise that you will be rooting for them just as I was. Darcy Burke keeps you engaged in this story up until the very end. The steamy romance scenes will have you wiping the drool from your face as well. Great read and I want to go back and read the others in this series when I have time!
