Book Description:
Star quarterback Austin Lawson’s dating life is fair game to the myriad gossip bloggers. Thanks to his most recent screw up with a social media savvy super model, he’s forced to return home so that his PR team can do damage control. To help speed things along, he volunteers at Jessamine Elementary School, never dreaming he’d find the perfect solution to his image problem in Harper Bell. Sweet as anything, she’s star struck by him and agrees to date-after-date, never suspecting the real reason he wants to be with her. But as things begin to heat up between them, Austin realizes that he wants Harper for more than just a quick fix.
Harper Bell is perfectly content as a second grade teacher in the small town of Jessamine—until she meets the one man who makes her question her lack of social life. She never dreamed that sexy, hometown hero Austin Lawson would ever notice a plain-Jane like herself. And with one hot kiss, she begins to fall head over heels for him…until she learns the truth. Austin’s been using her.
Now Austin has to execute the perfect play to win back the girl of his dreams. Or will Harper bench him permanently?

Review- 4.5 Stars
Those Lawson boys, they are just delicious.
There is no need to read the previous books in the series
first. But, I recommend you read them at some point…you’ll love those Lawson
boys.
Austin has been a little screwed and is basically being
banished while a mess that isn’t really his fault is being cleaned up.
Unexpectedly, he meet Harper Bell, local school teacher, and there is a major
spark of chemistry.
Harper considers herself a “Plain Jane,” and while it’s not
true, the feelings are compounded by her snobby relatives. She has a hard time
believing someone like Austin could be interested in him. She’s a very sweet character,
loving and fun. Austin does everything he can to prove that he is seriously
interested and eventually begins to convince her.
At the very first, Austin wants to get to know Harper, but
it doesn’t hurt that she helps his image. He considers dating her just for that
purpose, but after only a date or two, he decides he isn’t willing to risk
their budding relationship. He is such a sweetheart. So, confident in his own
talent and appeal, but bowled over by his reaction to Harper. He wants her,
loves to be with her, but he knows that in the end, their lives are worlds
apart. Harper is the marrying kind, and he’s far from ready to settle down.
Unfortunately, her spiteful relatives take every chance to
feed her insecurities and his initial intentions are thrown in her face. Their
little sabotage works and Harper runs and hides from Austin, kicking him out of
her life.
The “misunderstanding” concept in books can often be hard to
swallow for me. I keep thinking, calm down and listen before going off
half-cocked and ruining everything. The author did a decent job of giving credibility
to Harper’s reaction, especially considering her lack of self-confidence.
However, I still had a bit of a hard time with it. I felt that Austin had
proved himself and deserved the opportunity to give a proper explanation and
that she should look beyond her assumptions based on her insecurities. But, no
matter the small issue I had with that, this book is completely worth the read.
I do love those Lawson boys and you will too! I’m already anxious to read Caleb’s
story next!
Don't forget about the rest of the Lawson Brothers!
