I have loved every book in this series and Marquita
Valentine has just added another winner!
Hayden has intrigued me since we first met him several books
ago. I was so excited he was getting his own story! The sexy fireman is more than
I expected though, however, the surprise wasn’t all positives. There is a bit
of a manwhore and jerk in Hayden, but it just gives depth to him. Nobody is
perfect and it makes it all the sweeter to see him truly changing for Saylor.
He’s weighed down by his past and expectations but he doesn’t deter him from
his goal when he decides he wants Saylor.
Saylor is a really fun character, but she is also riddled
with insecurity. While it’s justifiable, she lets it overshadow a lot of the
things Hayden does and it disappointed me in her at times. I felt for her
though, her situation growing up and the way a lot of people treat her just
sucks. When she does open up and let Hayden lighten her life, it brings out
more of her quirky, fun personality. Her love of animals, sarcastic wit, fierce
ability to love, they all made me want to be her friend.
No surprise here, the book is insanely hot! The chemistry
between Hayden and Saylor burns hotter than the fires he puts out. His mouth…oh
that deliciously filthy mouth. He can light my fire any day.
The story line had some unexpected turns, but I will admit
that there was one huge mystery I figured out like three chapters in. However,
there were still details involved that I didn’t see coming. This author always
provides a great cast of supporting characters, ones that did to the shape of
the story and often make me wonder about their own stories.
This book just got me even more addicted to this author. It’s
definitely one for the re-read shelf!
