I don’t even know how
to start this…maybe…HOLY CRAP IT’S SO GOOD! Or…I FREAKING LOVED IT! And maybe...READ
IT NOW! I suppose that’s a good start.
This book is the second in a duet and does require that you
read the previous book first. Trust me, they are both supremely worth it. Tia
Louise knows how to tell a story. I was completely immersed in the world she
created and fascinated by the characters. From the first chapter of book 1, I
was always anticipating what would happen next. But, in this book, I felt like
she stepped it up even more. It has everything, action, mystery, some darkness,
sweet romance, and HOT HOT lovin’. There are so many feels!
Zelda is one kickass heroine. She is so strong that
sometimes I wanted to pluck her right out of the book and give her a chance to rest
and breathe before dumping her back into the story. She is so brave, smart,
funny and quirky, sassy and independent, a combination that made me wish I
could be her friend. But, she is also logical and classy, a perfect mixture for
an heir presumptive like Cal.
Cal is just so yummy. He marches to the beat of his own
drum, towing the line between being a rebel and a responsible prince. His dirty
mouth is sexy as hell and his strong alpha tendencies will melt your panties
right off. But, it’s his sweet and funny side that had my heart turning to
mush. In the beginning of this book, he is justifiably angry at Zelda’s
betrayal, but despite that, he still wants to make it work. He has no qualms
about admitting his love for her. He fights for her with everything inside him,
refusing to give up when it seems hopeless that he can be her white knight.
Ava and Rowan are a constant presence in this book as well,
though none of it is told from their POV. I loved them both in the first book
and it was great t be able to see some of their HEA.
The book is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your
seat, wondering what will happen next. I couldn’t put it down and when the
story ended, I wasn’t ready to let them go. I wanted more and I’m so excited
that the author decided to continue on with this series. I eagerly await the
next book! Fair warning, while the ending is super solid, it leaves an opening
for more books from Cal and Zelda or Rowan and Ava. I wouldn’t call it a cliff
hanger exactly, but she definitely leaves you wanting for more.
This series is multiple five stars in my book and is firmly
on the re-read over and over shelf!
