"We were perfect together. Until we met."
Misha
I can’t help but smile at the lyrics in her letter. She misses me.
In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.
It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…
And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.
Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.
We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?
Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?
F*ck it. I need to meet her.
I just don’t expect to hate what I find.
Ryen
He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.
Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his phone number or picture or something.
He could be gone forever.
Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.

“We’re all ugly, Ryen. The only difference is, some hide it and some wear it.”
Oh mylanta….Penelope Douglas strikes again! This woman writes unbelievable characters and story lines. You will immerse yourself into the drama and you won’t want to leave. Seriously, I need to be apart of this world! I have so much I want to say, but I don’t want to give anything away...ugh!
Seven years I’ve known her, but I’ve never seen her face. If I search her out now, there’s no going back.
Ryen Trevarrow and Misha Lane have been pen pals for seven years. They have developed a kinship, an unbreakable friendship that has been a life saving relationship for both of them. For seven years, they have never seen each other, never spoken on the phone, only written letters that arrive in the mail. But the kicker, they only live 30 minutes from each other...Seriously, myself I don’t know if I could ever not take the chance to sneak a peek!
She's my muse, and she has to know it by now
Misha is the hot tattooed musician who tells it like it is. He’s tough, but is hiding some painful memories. Through the years he has been inspired by Ryen’s writing and between them they come up with some beautiful lyrics for his band. Only when Misha finds out Ryen’s true colors, he’s not impressed. Why has she lied to him?
Alone, Empty, Fraud, Shame, Fear
Ryen is not the girl that Misha thought she was..she’s pretty, popular, “a mean girl”. She isn’t the girl who is shy, awkward, a social outcast as she has alluded too. She’s stumbling through life and isn’t happy, but she’s scared to really be herself. Why? Misha has always been the one she could count on and when a chance encounter happens, Misha knows who she is, but Ryen has no clue. Should he introduce himself or remain a mystery?
Misha and Ryen are both flawed and you will definitely fall for both characters. Both are hiding secrets and as things start to unfold, you are thrown through a whirlwind of emotions and shocks!
The connection between them is undeniable and its smoking hot! I loved their scenes together...especially at the drive in...OMG!!
We can’t people will see
No one sees you. Just me. And I want to kiss you.”
“You are kissing me.”
“But I want to kiss you in other places.”
This was well written and will bring on the feels...holy crap! I thought that the message that Penelope put in was beautiful. It’s not always easy being a teen these days. You always feel like you have to conform and be someone else. I like that she brought this up with Ryen. She was having a difficult time always being “ON”. It wasn’t who she wanted to be, but she didn’t want to go back to her life before. Bullying these days is everywhere and it is hard for someone to escape it. You have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many more social media outlets where attacks can happen. It is not easy for kids now a days to grow up and be accepting of themselves and others. But I felt that this book gave a voice, that its okay to love you for who you are. Be your own person, stand up for yourself and others. Be kind and treat everyone how you would want to be treated. Penelope has a slam dunk with this book! If she leaves out the steamy scenes, I feel this book could be read among every age group and may just make a stamp on someone’s life.
Penelope writes edgy love stories. They are a little dark, they are angsty, and they are absolutely captivating! She bewitches me with her words in every book she writes. She writes steamy scenes that will have you fanning yourself. She also invites you into their world. You will experience what the characters go through. I felt like I was back in high school again. That is what I love about her work. You get swept away in the journey of her characters. If you have never read anything by Penelope you are missing out! I highly recommend adding her to your list of go to authors. I fell in love with Bully and she is an automatic re-read and 1 click! I highly recommend this! 5 Finding Yourself Stars!
