About THE TATTERED GLOVES
Head down.
Don’t look up.
Never make eye contact.
Those were the words I lived by growing up, the words that protected me in an unsafe home. But words are only letters and eventually even they couldn’t keep his hands off me.
Hoping to leave behind the shattered life of my past, I find myself in a boring, small town, with an aunt I’ve never met and at a school I loathe.
But soon I learn, not everything in this world is as black and white as I’ve determined. Sometimes those we are so quick to judge often need a second, third or even fourth time to make a first impression.
And often, there are friendships and even love waiting just around the corner, if we are brave enough to take the first step.
Am I brave? Or will I hide behind these tattered gloves of mine forever?

Beautiful, inspiring, and heart warming
After a terrorizing encounter Willow is sent away to live with an aunt that she never knew existed. She is broken and shattered almost beyond repair. Willow had a hard life growing up and her recent encounter makes it almost impossible for her to be normal. She has spent her whole life trying to be invisible to the wrong people. Will this new phase in her life be a chance for the right people to not only see her, but to give her everything that she ever hoped for?

These were the words I lived by growing up
The one thing that makes Willow feel safe since her last night at home was an old pair of tattered gloves that she never takes off. While some of the students at her new school make fun of her for it. There are others who are very understanding and over time they become some of the closet people in her life.
I absolutely loved Sam. He saw something in Willow the moment that he laid eyes on her. He is patient, kind, and understanding. What I loved most about him is that he didn't fight for Willow but instead gave her courage to fight for herself. In the process he managed to steal her heart and mines.
Trapped inside these gloves that were supposed to protect me from the horrors of the world.
Instead, they’d somehow become my prison, and I couldn’t find the key to unlock my freedom.

One of things that I liked most about this book was how the author handled sexual abuse. She didn't focus in on the abuse itself, instead she gave little details here and there that lets the reader put the pieces together. She also focused more on how the victim felt after what happened to her.
Tattered gloves was written in a way that I not only felt connected with the characters, but I also grew with them. I was so enraptured in the story that I stayed very much on the moment with Willow. I didn't think about what would happen later during her journey, or wonder what twist would happen next. I simply lived moment by moment with her. I can't remember ever experiencing that with a novel, and I absolutely loved every minute of it.
