Sparks
fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in
this lively standalone rom-com from the USA Today bestselling
author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.
Pampered
heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the
shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot
lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the
mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic
neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing
him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest
daydreams.
Celebrity
divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially
spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual
job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew
resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it.
But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise
kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether
they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the
answer just might be yes.
5 STARS!
This is another great read by Lauren Layne. Mater of fact it was "ridiculously" good!! I love the way that Lauren Layne writes as if we are in the head of her characters. You feel like you can sense what they are going to say or do and the writing is just great! These characters are very well developed, even though Georgie hasn't grown out of her partying stage. I loved all the characters in this story and felt that they all had their own piece of the puzzle to fit in.
We meet Georgie and quickly find out that she is a bit spoiled. Her grandmother has left her a large inheritance and so all Georgie does is party all night and sleep all day. Since Georgie has gotten into this habit, she has been coming into her apartment building in the early morning times and happens to always run into Andrew, another tenant in the building. Georgie and Andrew exchange some banter each day, but Georgie is not interested in anything having to do with Andrew because he is a lawyer and carries and air about him. Georgia is the type of person that everyone loves and she can not figure out what in the world is wrong when she can't even get Andrew to crack a smile.
Andrew has always been above his peers and even skipped grades in school, this made it harder on him though than one might have guessed. Not all the older kids wanted a younger one hanging around with them so that made it hard for Andrew to fit in anywhere. Andrew is a divorce lawyer and has made partner in his firm at a really young age. Andrew focuses on his working out and his work so that keeps him busy. When Andrew and Georgie start having more and more chance encounters in the early morning hours, Andrew wonders if they are really chance or are they planned? He doesn't want to say anything to Georgie about it because he rather likes the meetings. He is just not sure how to handle her sometimes. Georgie can be a little spit fire and always has something to say back to him.
One day Andrew doesn't show up at his normal time and Georgie thinks he is just trying to ignore her, when the next day rolls around and no Andrew again, Georgie knows that something has to be going on so she decides to go to Andrews apartment and check on him. Come to find out he has the flu so Georgie decides to take care of Andrew and fixes him homemade chicken noodle soup. After a few days Andrew starts to feel better and then guess what?? Georgie comes down with the flu, so it is Andrews turn to take care of her. The two of them begin to grow closer and closer to each other and eventually one thing leads to another. Feeling come out for each other and things happen between the two of them.
When Andrew knows a secret that Georgie doesn't know, will that put an end to their relationship or will they find a way to their HEA despite this hurdle for them? You have to read to find out. This is a book that you will not want to put down until you are finished and have learned what becomes of Andrew and Georgie. Such a great read for sure!
