Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.
Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

REVIEW - 4 STARS
Sawyer Bennett's new series Love Hurts starts off just right! Sex in the Sticks was a fun, sweet and sexy read. Every time I pick up a book by Sawyer Bennett I know I'm in for a great read. She never disappoints and her characters are always entertaining.
The storyline was simple...A New York Socialite blogger heads to Alaska to test if manly men in Alaska are a different dating experience than her normal metrosexual dates in NYC. Seriously I knew I was going to be in for a fun ride.
Fifteen men to every woman?
I'm thinking big, rugged manly men who don't give a rats ass about fashion or manicures, and I bet their tans are natural.
"Alaska," I murmur to myself.
This idea definitely has merit
Valentine French is your typical NY socialite girl. She loves shopping, having fun, writing a hands-on dating blog that pisses off her parents and trust me she loves doing it. But Val is over dating men who care more about money, their looks and what the stocks are doing. She's not the girl looking for a forever, but for a fun time. Someone who will treat her right both outside and inside the bedroom. When she unexpectedly falls on the mercy of a handsome man, she realizes this might just be a fun little adventure. But will her heart get involved or is this all for the readers?
If have the men in Alaska are only half as gorgeous as Chief Burke--or Logan, as he told me to call him--then I'm in for a damn good trip
Logan Burke is not born and bred in Alaska, but he still has adapted to the lay of the land. He's got the manly look down, hunts, fishes and owns a gun. Oh yeah and he wears a badge. Yep he's the Chief of police in East Merritt, Alaska. When he meets the gorgeous Valentine, he's intrigued by her mystery. Why would a girl like her come here?
As we get to follow Val on her dating adventures, she sees that men in Alaska are just like men in NY...whether they are a lumberjack, fisherman, stockbroker or lawyer they all don't know how to treat a woman and they all date the same. It was quite funny to read about them. But there is one guy that stands out..Logan. They have formed a friendship of sorts, ok he's rescued her a few times and she wants him. But does he want her?
The banter and scenes with these two were funny, sweet at times and holy smokes sexy! Logan is that adorable, sweet and sexy man who loves to dirty talk. I loved watching everything unfold between them. They clicked right from the start. Two people from totally different worlds collide into a hot and heavy romp that turns into something more!
Pretty sure I'm addicted to her.
To that pussy. That body. That smile. That laugh. That warmth. That charm. That kindness. That goofiness. Fuck...I'm just gone for her.
I love how Sawyer gave us glimpses and painted a beautiful picture of life in Alaska. I definitely would love to visit some day. Her secondary characters intrigued me a little and I liked how they seem too fit right into the story so well. There was one character I felt like I could have throat punched, but everyone else especially April and Ted I enjoyed. As I said Sawyers characters always grab me and I end up loving everything about them. I can't wait too see who she's writes about next in the series because this was great start! 4 Bou Stew Stars!

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.
Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
