#Review #tour Sex in the Sticks by @BennettBooks @InkSlingerPR

Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.

Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

REVIEW - 4 STARS
Sawyer Bennett's new series Love Hurts starts off just right! Sex in the Sticks was a fun, sweet and sexy read. Every time I pick up a book by Sawyer Bennett I know I'm in for a great read. She never disappoints and her characters are always entertaining.

The storyline was simple...A New York Socialite blogger heads to Alaska to test if manly men in Alaska are a different dating experience than her normal metrosexual dates in NYC. Seriously I knew I was going to be in for a fun ride.

Fifteen men to every woman?
I'm thinking big, rugged manly men who don't give a rats ass about fashion or manicures, and I bet their tans are natural.
"Alaska," I murmur to myself.
This idea definitely has merit

Valentine French is your typical NY socialite girl. She loves shopping, having fun, writing a hands-on dating blog that pisses off her parents and trust me she loves doing it. But Val is over dating men who care more about money, their looks and what the stocks are doing. She's not the girl looking for a forever, but for a fun time. Someone who will treat her right both outside and inside the bedroom. When she unexpectedly falls on the mercy of a handsome man, she realizes this might just be a fun little adventure. But will her heart get involved or is this all for the readers?
If have the men in Alaska are only half as gorgeous as Chief Burke--or Logan, as he told me to call him--then I'm in for a damn good trip

Logan Burke is not born and bred in Alaska, but he still has adapted to the lay of the land. He's got the manly look down, hunts, fishes and owns a gun. Oh yeah and he wears a badge. Yep he's the Chief of police in East Merritt, Alaska. When he meets the gorgeous Valentine, he's intrigued by her mystery. Why would a girl like her come here?

As we get to follow Val on her dating adventures, she sees that men in Alaska are just like men in NY...whether they are a lumberjack, fisherman, stockbroker or lawyer they all don't know how to treat a woman and they all date the same. It was quite funny to read about them. But there is one guy that stands out..Logan. They have formed a friendship of sorts, ok he's rescued her a few times and she wants him. But does he want her?

The banter and scenes with these two were funny, sweet at times and holy smokes sexy! Logan is that adorable, sweet and sexy man who loves to dirty talk. I loved watching everything unfold between them. They clicked right from the start. Two people from totally different worlds collide into a hot and heavy romp that turns into something more!

Pretty sure I'm addicted to her.
To that pussy. That body. That smile. That laugh. That warmth. That charm. That kindness. That goofiness. Fuck...I'm just gone for her.

I love how Sawyer gave us glimpses and painted a beautiful picture of life in Alaska. I definitely would love to visit some day. Her secondary characters intrigued me a little and I liked how they seem too fit right into the story so well. There was one character I felt like I could have throat punched, but everyone else especially April and Ted I enjoyed. As I said Sawyers characters always grab me and I end up loving everything about them. I can't wait too see who she's writes about next in the series because this was great start! 4 Bou Stew Stars!

#Excerpt #Giveaway Preservation by @kcanterbary @TastyBookTours

Some things have to fall apart before they can be put back together.

PRESERVATION
The Walshes #7
Kate Canterbary
Releasing May 23, 2017
Vesper Press

Two lonely hearts.

Just once, she'd like to be someone's first choice.
She's strong-willed and spunky, but she's left picking up the pieces from her ex's lies and manipulations, and daydreaming about taking a scalpel to his scrotum.

Flying under the radar is what he does best.
He's laid-back and loyal, but he wants the most off-limits woman in his world, and nothing will ever make that a reality.

An arrangement of mutual benefit.

Two months, four dates.
Five, if things go well.
Five at the most.
But possibly six.
Definitely no more than six dates.
Only the appearance of a romantic relationship is required, and they expect nothing more from their time together. There will be none of those benefits involved.

One wild weekend.

After waking up in bed together—very naked and even more hungover—the terms and conditions of their arrangement no longer apply. Now they're faced with something riskier than exposing their fake relationship: letting go of the past and zipping up the future.

Some things have to fall apart before they can be put back together.

PRESERVATION excerpt – © 2017, Kate Canterbary

Riley pointed at the plate between us. "These are my favorite pretzel bites in the city. Try some."
I shot him a sharp look. "Are you just trying to get me in a good mood?" I asked. "I did eat lunch today."
"Oh yeah?" he asked, dipping two pretzels in the accompanying sauce. "What did you have? Based on you yelling at me about noticing your shoes, I'd say it was an iced venti skinny latte."
"Almonds," I replied. And an iced venti skinny latte but I wasn't copping to that just yet.
Riley tried to fight a laugh, and failed. "Almonds?" he repeated.
"Chocolate covered almonds, yes." I folded my arms across my chest. "It was an appropriate amount of calories, fat, protein, and carbs."
He shook his head and ate another pretzel. "I don't want to live in a world where a few almonds—chocolate or otherwise—are lunch." He pointed to the plate and pushed his beer toward me. "Eat. Drink. Please."
I glared at the pilsner and pretzels. I hated being told what to do. Just fucking hated it. But then my stomach growled—goddamn it—and Riley shot me a pointed glance.
"People think that a rumbling stomach is the sign of hunger," I said, reaching for his glass. I drained the beer and then selected a pretzel for dipping. "It is not."
Riley gazed at me, his expression flat. It gave me a moment to study him while choosing another pretzel. He was wearing jeans, a tailored shirt with the cuffs rolled up to his elbows, and a pinstriped vest, and his hair was a wreck. It looked like he'd been tugging the dark strands in every conceivable direction. His eyes were rimmed with a bit of red and his lids heavy, as if he'd been rubbing them or hadn't gotten much sleep. Perhaps both. There was a small notebook beside his phone, and a mechanical pencil tucked into the spiral binding.
And he was still more attractive than I knew how to handle. Even tired and irritable, and ordering me to eat his pretzels and drink his beer, he was hot as fuck. I bit into another pretzel and offered him a small smile.
"Would you say the chip on your shoulder is massive or epic?" he asked. There was no hint of amusement in his tone, and he was staring at me with more ice than I'd believed he could muster. It didn't feel like we were sniping at each other anymore. "It might be semantics to you but I'm trying to get a feel for what I'm dealing with here."
But then one of his big hands found my leg under the table. He squeezed and rubbed his thumb along the hollow of my knee, and I started to believe I'd been all wrong about this man. There was the player and there was the overgrown kid, but there was so much more than that.

Kate Canterbary doesn't have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean--Pacific or Atlantic--is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people—be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane—ever since. Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn't writing sexy architects, she's scheduling her days around the region's best food trucks.

EXCERPT :
TWISTED

“Hey, mate. Whatcha staring at over here, eh?”
Gesturing with my glass to the stunning image in the mirror, that wild hair of hers, the elegant column of her neck as she throws her head back and laughs, “Fannin.”
“Ahhh, that’s her then?” He whistles between his teeth. “I can see the appeal. Introduce us.” Theo slaps my back and walks to stand in front of Fannin and Shelby, waiting for me. Taking another sip, I join them.
“Ladies, this is the manager of the Iron Flask, Theo Carre. Theo this beauty here is Fannin McGuire, and her gorgeous friend is Shelby Mends. I believe you had the pleasure of speaking to both of them earlier today.” I watch as my oldest friend clasps Shelby’s hand and then Fannin’s, holding hers between his two larger ones and saying something that I can’t hear but makes her smile shyly.
Shoving him playfully, I go to stand beside Fannin’s seat, caging her in with one hand on the bar and the other on the back of her stool. “What did I tell you? Reputation.”
“Oh, that’s rich coming from you, king of the kilt over here. Watch out for him, Fannin. He’ll seduce you with whisky and that plaid skirt of his,” Theo throws back.
“Cheeky fucker. King of the kilt?” I grumble with absolute zero heat. “Go manage something, why don’t ya?”
He laughs, “I’m actually getting ready to go through all the things you ladies sent over after our conference call. Brilliant ideas.”
“Oh good. I hope that they’re what the owner and your team are looking for. I love spending time in here -- it’s really helped with my brainstorming,” Fannin tells him as Shelby nods in agreement.
“The owner will love it. Not that it matters since I’m in charge here.” He winks at them. “It’s been a pleasure, enjoy the rest of your evening. Drinks are all on Jasper.” He gives a little wave and makes his way to the office.

“He seems really nice.”
“Aye, he’s a good one. We’ve been friends since we were just wee lads actually. Went to secondary school together, what you all call ‘high school,’ and then to Uni.” I still have her caged in, the smell of her wrapping itself around me. Something sweet and floral with a hint of spice. It’s all Fannin.
“Did he move here with you?” Shelby asks as she taps on her phone.
“No, he’d been here for a year or two before I came. He helped to set this whole place up. It’s his baby.”
“And the owner clearly trusts him,” Fannin adds.
“Aye.”
“Excuse me, I have to take this.” Shelby slides off the stool and weaves her way to the restrooms.
With the glass to her smiling lips, Fannin looks at me through lowered lashes. “So, is that what you’re trying to do? Seduce me with whisky and a plaid skirt?”
“Oh, you’ll know when I’m seducing you, love.” I take a step closer, closing the space between us, forcing her to sit back in her seat. “You’ll feel it in every inch of this gorgeous body.”
Ignoring the room and all the people in it, I run my nose along her jaw, stopping to whisper into her hair. “I won’t need whisky, and the only skirt that I’ll be getting into is yours.”

Read an excerpt from YOUR ALLURING LOVE

“Let me do the dirty work from time to time. You’re mine, Alice. That means I’ll protect you from anyone, even if you don’t want me to. I’ll protect you especially when you don’t want me to because it’s when you need it most.” Before I can reply, he steps right in front of me. “You understand? You are mine.”
I shake my head. “You’re stubborn and possessive.”
“Sounds like I’m a catch.”
“I didn’t mean those as compliments,” I inform him, crossing my arms over my chest.
“That’s how they sounded to me.”
“How do you figure?”
“You can easily rephrase that to determined and protective. Both positive traits.”
Despite my annoyance, my lips twitch with a hint of a smile.
“I won’t apologize for wanting to protect you.”
“I wasn’t really expecting you to,” I reply, disarmed by his passion and honesty. “But I’m warning you, I’m still mad at you.”
“I’m counting on it, darling. In fact, hold on to the anger until we get home. Unless you want to leave now?”
“No, the event isn’t over.” I’m a little suspicious of his sudden good mood. “Why do you want me to hold on to the anger?”
“Because there’s a kind of sex I’m dying to try with you.”
“What kind is that?”
He wiggles his eyebrows, leaning in. “Make-up sex.”

Graham Hodson lives for adventure. His entire life has revolved around his obsessive wanderlust. His inner fear of staying in one place or being with one person for too long has kept him on the go. The last thing he expects is a sudden diagnosis to ground his travel—permanently.

Boyce “BC” Brooks has screwed up his lifelong dream of being the captain of the English national rugby team. He’s lost everything. When his uncle leaves him an inn and a dog in Cornwall, he has little choice but to try his hand at innkeeper.

Can two jokesters kicked around by life and their own decisions find stability when their world shakes beneath their feet?

Start at the Beginning
by Dahlia Donovan

I love the first paragraphs of The Wanderer.

From the prologue:

Weddings were a pain more excruciating than a broken nose, or tooth, or both—an event to be avoided when at all possible. Only the blissfully ignorant would voluntarily submit themselves to the farce of “marital bliss,” never mind the noise, whimpering women, and a priest who would undoubtedly drone on and on unless someone whacked him upside the head.
Why did I agree to this shit? If this bint sobs into my sleeve one more sodding time, I’ll shove her into the aisle, manners be damned. I should’ve claimed a sudden bout of dengue fever in Macau and been done with it.

It still makes me giggle months after I first wrote it.

The first few sentences manage to bring Graham’s sarcasm, mood, and philosophy on life into sharp focus. He’s not interested in love or demonstrations of it. Commitment is way down on the list of things he wants to have.

In so many areas of his life, Graham could be considered completely fearless. Not in love. He’s a cowardly lion when it comes to relationships. He’s a man who has made one massive mistake and refuses to try again.

A cowardly ginger lion.

The first paragraph makes me laugh because I know what’s to come for him. Graham finds in The Wanderer how much courage he actually has. He learns, I think, how to love—and be loved. It’s not perfect, but he doesn’t need it to be.

After all, perfection is boring.

Dahlia Donovan wrote her first romance series after a crazy dream about shifters and damsels in distress. She prefers irreverent humour and unconventional characters. An autistic and occasional hermit, her life wouldn’t be complete without her husband and her massive collection of books and video games.
