Meet Blake & Chloe in Where the Road Takes Me
in this new coming of age novel by
Jay McLean
Chloe
has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise
to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned
the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being
invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom,
at least for a little while.
Blake
Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect
to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the
shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will
disappear.
One
dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For
Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the
so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes
with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

Wow!
I have never laughed one minute and cried the next that much with a
book! This is my first Jay McLean book and I know I definitely need to
read the others I have on my TBR list soon. I'm in love....this is
Chloe and Blake's journey to find love, life and happiness.
Chloe is the girl who wants nothing more than to be invisible. She has achieved that for almost 4 years of High School until one night she is run into by Blake Hunter. Blake is Mr. popular basketball star. He has it all, but yet he still wants to be numb, not feel anything.
Their chance encounter will change their lives forever. She's running from a bad mistake and he helps her. He's immediately awed by her, but she is closed off. Why?
Their story is not an easy one. Both hold secrets and have to make huge decisions. Blake needs to decide between playing college basketball or the military. Chloe decision to leave her home after graduating and take the road is been her choice since she was thirteen. Will they make the right choices?
Blake is falling in love with Chloe, but she still closed him off. She is afraid that with her future she's just inviting heartbreak for anyone that becomes involved with her. So she doesn't let anyone get close to her. But she is having a hard time because she's falling for Blake....He was her change.
She was his Kryptonite....
"But Chloe, she brought something out in me that had never existed before." "It was as if she reached inside me, taken my heart in her hands, squeezed tight, and made it start beating."
I absolutely loved Blake. He was sweet, swoon worthy and an all around good guy. Chloe I liked her, but she made me mad sometimes. It was like she would lead Blake on and then get pissed when he would react to her. She gave him mixed signals....ugh, but I understood it a few times.
As for the secondary characters. Chloe's family that she lived with were so sweet. Clayton, my heart broke for him, and I loved how protective he was of Chloe. Blake's mom I wasn't sure about her at first, but I eventually loved her. Now Josh, Blake's best friend...loved him and would love a book about him. He was the perfect compliment to Blake.
I fell in love with the Red Letter days. The saying and the notes...Oh my...they were just so perfect! They are positive experiences or when something unexpectedly phenomenal happens to you.
"You Blake Hunter, are my unexpectedly phenomenal.."
As this being my first book by Jay McLean, I have to say it was a home run. Her writing is beautiful, and they quotes she uses make your emotions go into overdrive. I have fallen in love with this book and with her writing. The characters and the story have depth. They are real and relatable. This book was funny, heartbreaking, swoon worthy and it was breathtaking. 5 Fire Trucking Stars!!!

Chloe
lifted her gaze and locked it with mine. She shook her head again and groaned,
“Fine.” Then she took off her shirt.
My
jaw dropped.
My
hands had touched her bare skin, the curve of her hips, and her tiny waist, but
I’d seen her body only once, when she was in a bikini, and that had been for
only a minute. But that was nothing compared to seeing her like this. Up close.
So close her sports bra–covered breasts were just under my nose.
“Blake?”
she whispered.
I
struggled to take my eyes off her chest, but I finally made it to her face. She
had her hair tied up in a messy knot on top of her head, like she often did.
But a few strands were stuck on her neck and on her face . . . and a little
sheen of sweat covered her arms and her stomach, her chest, her breasts . . .
“Blake,”
she repeated, and I trailed my eyes back to hers again.
She
pouted before she said, “Give me the ball?”
I
shook my head and hid the ball behind my back.
She
pouted again. “Please?” she whispered. Then a hint of a smile broke through.
“Are
you trying to seduce me into giving you my ball?”
