Title: Heartfelt Lies (Undone #2)
Author: Kristy Love
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 8, 2015
Loving Cassie was effortless.
She was a thirst I couldn’t quench.
She was everything I needed, but nothing I deserved.
I failed her more times than I could count.
I lied relentlessly.
And she always forgave me.
Until she couldn’t.
Maybe I deserved to be left behind.
* * *
Jax swept me off my feet with his disheveled hair and his easy smile.
I loved him fiercely.
He made me believe in the fairytale.
Then the walls crumbled around me.
The lies never ended.
I left him behind. I had no choice.
I mourned the loss of him.
But I moved on.
I created a new life,
Now, I was marrying someone else.
Where do we go now that he’s back?
I
have no idea where to really begin with this awesome book. This was my first
read by Kristy Love and I am so hooked. Her writing catches your attention from
the first page and you do not want to put the book down until you are done. I
can promise you this will not be my last read by Kristy.
Cassie was disowned by her family when she ended up pregnant so that she would not hurt her father’s reputation. Cassie made a way for herself without anyone really helping her and she kept the baby even though the father signed over his parental right as soon as Ben was born. Cassie was a strong willed young woman that was determined to provide for her son no matter what. Cassie had been so focused on doing what she had to do to raise Ben that she had not dated much at all since moving and getting a job. Cassie wanted to give Ben all her attention and not let him ever feel like he did not matter to her.
Jax is a young man that is trying to get his college out of the way so that he can go on and pursue his dreams. Jax had been living with his best friend Will but when he started dating Jax's sister and they decided to move in together, Jax had no choice but to move back with his mom. He was happy to be able to get some good time in with his mom, but knew that he had to move back closer to his college so that he could focus on his studies. Jax gets a new roommate that is trouble from day one and eventually ends up dragging Jax down with him. Jax knew from the first time that he saw Cassie in the restaurant where she worked that there was something about her that he could not get over and he wanted to get to know her better!
Jax and Cassie make such a great couple. I love how Jax took care of Cassie and took Ben in like he had always known him. Cassie had her reservations about letting Jax meet Ben but she had worried for nothing. This book puts you through an emotional roller coaster with all the up and downs that Jax and his mom battle with dealing with addictions. There were times I just wanted to reach through my Kindle and shake them to make them realize what they were doing with their lives. When Cassie found out what all Jax was involved in, she tried to ignore the signs and warnings that things were going downhill. Cassie dealt with a lot while Jax was trying to work through things himself.
I was so heartbroken when Cassie and Jax split up for a bit. They make such a great couple and I was rooting for them all along. When things start looking back up for this couple I was so excited. This story ended in a HEA and I am so so glad that it did. I love how Kristy made this story life like because not all addiction problems are taken care of but I am glad that she showed us that there is help and as long as you have a good support group around you, you can overcome your addiction and move on with your life. Kristy knows how to pull at your emotions but also leave you longing for more of this couple once the story is over. I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more from Cassie and Jax. Thanks Kristy for such a great story. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us readers!!

“Jax,” I breathed. I reached behind
me, grasping for the door handle to my backseat. When it opened, I pulled his
face away from my chest. His lips were red from thoroughly kissing me. His
chest was heaving and his eyes were glazed. I smiled and tugged on his hand. I
climbed inside my car, lying back on the seat. He crawled on top of me and shut
the door behind him. Without pause, he helped me out of my light jacket and
tossed it in the front. He pulled my shirt over my head and went back to
attacking my breasts. I wrapped my arms around him and ran them over his back.
He had never been skin and bones, but now he had more definition. He wasn’t too
bulky, there was just enough there that my arousal kicked up another five
notches.
I pulled on his shirt, whipping it
over his head. He smirked at me, taking my bra off.
“Cassie,” he said, his voice
reverent and so full of want that it almost hurt to hear it. “Fuck. I never
thought I’d be able to touch you, kiss you again. Now that I started, I’m not
sure I can ever stop.”
“Don’t stop. Don’t ever stop.”
He leaned down and pulled a nipple
into his mouth. I cried out. His hand slid down my abdomen, my muscles
twitching as he moved over them. He popped the button of my jeans and slid down
the zipper before slipping his hand inside. He traced his finger over my
panties. He groaned.
“Fuck, Cassie.” His whole body went
still and stiff, his head buried in my neck. “I think I’m going to die. Right
here, right now. If I wake up tomorrow and this was a dream, I don’t think I
can go on with life.”
“It’s not a dream, Jax. I’m here,
with you.”
He regarded me and the pain in his
eyes caused my heart to squeeze painfully. It seemed as though he was about to
say something, but instead, he devoured my lips and slipped a finger inside me.
I arched my back, ripping my lips away from his. The sensation, the feeling, it
was so much. Too much.
“God, you feel so good.” He buried
his face in my neck again and kissed, licked, nibbled it. My mouth was wide
open, as were my eyes, as he moved his fingers inside me magically. I couldn’t
think about anything but the feel of his fingers and the way he was playing my
body like a guitar. He still knew exactly how to touch me in such a way that,
before long, my hips were bucking against his and I screamed out his name.
He slipped his hand out of my
jeans, moving up to brush my hair out of my face. He studied my face as though
he’d never see it again. My mind was still coming back down to Earth as he
helped me put my bra and shirt back on. Before I knew it, he was sitting next
to me, pulling his shirt on. He kissed my lips, long and passionate and so
amazingly. I wanted his hands on me again, even though they’d been gone only
been a few minutes.
“I don’t want to leave you, Cassie,
but if I don’t leave now, we’re never leaving this parking lot,” he said, then
pressed a kiss to my forehead.
I wrapped my arms around his neck,
kissing him. I never wanted this feeling to end.
