Review
“When the eyes of hate
are upon you, look away”
I don't know if I can
write the review this book deserves. I could go on and on about this...K.
Langston and K.C. Lynn wrote about a difficult and powerful subject that a lot
of people think is not as strong today as it was say 30-40 years ago. Well Folks,
it is….It is 100% alive and real. For someone who is married to a black man, I
have experienced some of this. To be called names or threatened for the choice
I made to love someone who is not the same color of skin as me, is ridiculous,
but it's happened. There were people on both sides of our
families/friends who were not real pleased with us when we got together. But I
will say after 19 years, they have grown to accept and love us. As for the
public, my husband has been called the “N-word” a few times, has gotten in a
fight because of our relationship and a few other not so nice things. It
saddens me that our world can not see a person for who they are inside, but
sees a person based on their skin color.
Okay lets see...where
to freaking start...I literally sobbed, ugly cry snot running sobbed. I got
extremely angry a few times and had to stop reading because it was that intense
and so not right! It was painful and gut-wrenching, but also beautiful.
“I am strong, I am
fierce, and I am beautiful”
Olivia is the most
powerful woman lead I've read in a long time. The stuff she went through
was inspiring, and heartbreaking. She truly was a loving and caring woman
who had a heart of gold. I felt everything she went through and wanted to
hold her, cry with her and protect her myself. It was truly a WTF moment
because she didn't deserve any of it....ANY OF IT! Oh god, I'm getting
heated all over again...
“Trust me. Trust
me to keep you safe”
Grayson is everything
you could want in a man. He's sweet, protective, honorable, gorgeous and
a freaking dirty talker...swooned majorly over him! He's fiercely loyal
and just absolutely perfection! He made me melt....pile of goo...what he
uncovered and saw was eye opening and changed him.
“I want you to fuck
my face while you suck me off. Let me taste that sweet pussy of yours”
Ummm panty scorcher
here....Grayson and Liv together are a match made in heaven. It's erotic,
tender, sizzling and all around breathtaking. I was totally captivated by
them...so captivated. Definitely a couple that will stay with me.
“Seek the truth and you
will find justice”
As everything starts
unfolding, I was shocked by a few things. Secrets always find a way to
come out and holy hell do they. This story felt so real....like it was
ripped from the headlines or a movie unfolding. One thing I loved that K.
And KC did is show the relationship between Liv and Tania. I loved how
these two stood together through everything.
“A soft delicate hand
clasps mine. Looking down, I find Tania's dark fingers linked with my
light ones. I glance up to see her watching me with a small smile. ‘This
wouldn't be the first time we taught this world a thing or two. Let's
take our seats, Liv, and show them what this is really about."
Two things to think
about people....really think about the two sayings below. If we stand
together, we can make a difference. Show love, not hate. And
remember everyone is equal, teach your children to accept everyone no matter
the color of their skin, or religious background or disability. Hate is a
strong word, but LOVE is even stronger!
WE STAND TOGETHER
PEACE and LOVE
RISE ABOVE the HATE
“the war will rage on.
There will always be those who hate, who seek to destroy the equal
balance of humanity.
But only if we allow it.”
KC and K. Thank You!
You took this and wrote with such beauty, passion and truth that I
applaud you guys. What a risk to take writing this. Some may be offended, some
will throw hateful things out there, some will love it, but hope everyone
will get the true meaning. You have touched my life with this unique story. I
can't even describe how much this moved me....it was stunning, mesmerizing,
jaw-dropping. It gave me goosebumps! I would give this 1 million
stars if I could. This is by far my #1 Best Read this year! Congratulations on
a totally astounding and phenomenal read.

Excerpt
His gaze softens as he cups the side of my neck. “Jesus, you should never feel insecure. You’re fucking beautiful, Liv, bruises or not. Nothing in the world could ever change that.”
I watch him carefully, his sincerity tearing through my defenses. “You really mean that, don’t you?”
He rears back, the skin between his brows bunching together in deep valleys of confusion. “Of course I do. How could you not know that?”
I shrug. “I don’t know. I guess it’s…” I pause for a moment before deciding to bare it all. “It’s hard for me to believe you still think I’m beautiful despite finding me the way you did.”
Understanding dawns and he quickly shakes his head. “No, not ever. That didn’t change the way I look at you. Yes, it fucking gutted me to see you that way, but not once did I think any less of you.” He pulls me closer while his determined gaze bores into mine. His jaw flexes, the rhythm of his chest growing heavier. “It should have never happened. Nothing so hateful should have ever touched something so beautiful. But make no mistake, Liv, when I look at you, I don’t see the girl I found that day, I see the girl who survived it all. You’re fucking beautiful, inside and out, nothing or no one will ever change that.”
My breath hitches as tears blur my eyes, his words healing my wounded soul. “You make me feel beautiful,” I choke out softly.
“Good, baby, because you are, every inch of you, and don’t ever fucking forget it.” He closes the small space between our mouths, his lips claiming mine in a heated caress as his tongue sweeps in.
