I’m not usually a fan
of bdsm but I adore Laura Kaye, so I decided to give this series a chance. I
should have known better than to doubt. Everything Laura writes is worth reading.
She even managed to create bdsm scenes that felt sexy to me, which isn’t easy
to do!
The backstory for these two was a little heartbreaking, but
it made for such a sweet story. I loved that Griffin knew what he had lost and
from the moment he sees Kenna again, he is determined to be her forever.
Kenna has been through a lot and it has understandably left
her emotionally scarred. It’s beautiful to watch her try to find her solid
ground through being a sub, which isn’t something I would have expected. But,
as she thinks through the process, she made me understand why it worked for
her. I think it’s pretty clear it wouldn’t have been very effective with anyone
but Griffin though. Finding trust in him beyond being her dom is a bittersweet
process. These two are a powerful couple, both characters so well developed, and
perfectly paired by the author. The story moves fast and because of that, it
was over before I even realized I’d been reading all freaking day. Lol. I
couldn’t put it down.
I am definitely hooked on this series and I can’t wait for
the next one to release! Laura has accomplished something amazing with this
book. It is officially on my re-read list and I never thought I’d be putting a
book heavy on bdsm on that shelf! Just another reason I love and admore this
author!
