SOMEHOW, SOME WAY by Jennifer Probst
Billionaire Builders, #2.5
BLURB:
Bolivar Randy Heart (aka Brady) knows exactly what he wants next in life: the perfect wife. Raised in a strict traditional family household, he seeks a woman who is sweet, conservative, and eager to settle down. With his well-known protective and dominant streak, he needs a woman to offer him balance in a world where he relishes control. Too bad the newly hired, gorgeous, rehab addict is blasting through all his preconceptions and wrecking his ideals…one nail at a time…
Charlotte Grayson knows who she is and refuses to apologize. Growing up poor made her appreciate the simple things in life, and her new job at Pierce Brothers Construction is perfect to help her carve out a career in renovating houses. When an opportunity to transform a dilapidated house in a dangerous neighborhood pops up, she goes in full throttle. Unfortunately, she’s forced to work with the firm’s sexy architect who’s driving her crazy with his archaic views on women. Too bad he’s beginning to tempt her to take a chance on more than just work…one stroke at a time…
Somehow, some way, they need to work together to renovate a house without killing each other…or surrendering to the white-hot chemistry knocking at the front door.

REVIEW - 4.5 Stars
I love this series! Finding out that Charlie and Brady were
going to get a story had me really excited. Especially considering how
completely different they were, I was extremely curious to see how it would
work out between them. While I absolutely recommend all of the books in this
series, you really don’t need to read the others to enjoy this one.
The chemistry is off the charts, of course, the sexual
tension definitely had me on edge. The animosity is channeled into their
attraction and became so combustible, it was inevitable that the explosion
would be mind-blowing for both of them. The author hinted at some kinkier
preferences for them, Bray in particular, but it never really appeared in the
steamy scenes. I suppose we can infer that it got more interesting as their relationship
progressed after the story ended.
Brady and Charlotte are so completely different, down their
very core. While they are both driven and passionate, Charlie is an artistic
personality, easily viewed as flighty, though that is not truly the case. Brady
is rigid and structured in all that he does. While his creativity is no less
brilliant, he is somewhat unbending once he’s got the image of the project in
his mind or on paper.
While working on flipping the house Charlie bought, they
start to see through each other’s’ exteriors and find that things aren’t always
what they seem on the outside. It’s truly an interesting experience for the
reader if you’ve read the two previous books in the series because all we had
was the same outside glimpses that they had of each other. Once the author lets
you in their heads, it’s a whole other ball game.
The characters are well developed, both a product of their
childhoods (happy ones but vastly different), shaping them in a realistic way.
I liked both characters despite the flaws that they brought out in each other.
It made them more human and it made their eventual love worth it.
My only real issue with this story was the length. While, I
love a good novella, the situation between Brady and Charlie was too much to be
condensed like it was. For Brady in particular. He was so set in his beliefs,
so rigid, I felt like he fell out of his habitual thinking too quickly. Even
after learning that some of what he thought he knew was wrong, I imagine it
would be harder than it was to break the natural instincts he’d developed over
the years. I felt like their relationship would have been slightly more believable
that it would last if there had been more time in building it. However, I still
loved how they started and where they ended up, as well as everything along the
way.
I’m anxious to see more glimpse of this couple in the next
book and I’ll definitely be revisiting all of them.
