Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door.
Eyes the color of the summer sky.
Mounds of curly blond hair.
A little bit of sassy and a whole lot of sweet.
She was my best friend. My confidant. My salvation.
But when circumstances tore us apart, it put more than just miles between us. I hated her. Blamed her for my worst nightmare. And I never wanted to see her again.
Then one wrong turn brought her back into my life and now she’s under my skin. In the midst of all the chaos surrounding us, she’s what’s changing me. Practically bringing me to my knees. Driving me to want to be a better man.
But nothing is ever easy.
And as our worlds begin to crumble…so do we.
Our bond withstood the test of time, but when the future brings the unexpected, it will either draw us closer or tear us apart.
Can we weather the storm?

#NewRelease #Review Ladies Man by @AuthorKatyEvans

★★★★★The Wait is Over! Ladies Man is Live★★★★★

#LadiesMan

★★★REVIEW!★★★

4.5 Stars!!

I don't know where to begin! Katie Evans knows how to make your heat ache, melt you into a romanced puddle of goo, and burn from the chemistry! I absolutely adored the first books in the Manwhore series. I was anxiously awaiting Tahoe and Gina's story. No surprise, Katie doesn't ever disappoint!

Tahoe is broken. It's very clear, but he's also a mystery. More of a manwhore than Saint ever was, for reasons we cannot suspect. What always amazed me about Tahoe was the perfection with which he held on to his mask. If you didn't know him, as almost nobody really does, you wouldn't see the tiny shadow always lurking behind his sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile. To the rest of the world, he is happy, carefree, living a life of envy. However, the truth is, Tahoe is using his persona to hide pain and letting it seep inside and tarnish his belief in himself. He hardens his heart against love, even though it's so clear that Gina is his everything.

Gina is broken too, but Tahoe has the ability to heal her, even if that simply means giving her the courage to try and find love again. His friendship is a balm to her wounded soul but it's almost as painful as it is joyful. She wants him and at times, she breaks down, willing to take what little bit of himself he allows other women to have. To Tahoe's credit (adding to his already magnetic appeal), he won't let her. He knows she deserves more than a one night stand, and it's something he refuses to give. He even watches her attempt to find it with someone else, knowing she deserves to be loved and worshiped.

There are moments of absolute heartbreak in this novel. Tahoe's need for Regina is strong and palpable, I could feel it clinging to the air like  dark, wet blanket. But, those moments when they are so casual and open, the best of friends, they lightened my heart. Their banter was cute and witty, often making me smile as though I were a part of the joke.

The sexual tension between these two...whoa! Denial isn't something I would have thought could be a form of foreplay, but after reading this book, there is no doubt that is can be. There is also a sweetness to their romance, something fun and innocent, but so filled with love. It's very clear they bring each other joy, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I really wish it hadn't taken quite to long to get them together. By the end of the book, I was quite frustrated. A little tired of the same back and forth, though there were minuscule hints of Tahoe's thought process changing.

In the end, it was simply beautiful. These two deserved their happy ending and when get it, it lights up the book and warms you like you're standing in the sunshine. They are perfect for one another and I was all about the warm fuzzies. I really, really, wish there had been an epilogue though. I'll admit, I pouted over it for a while. I'll cling to the promise of the next book in the series! I can't wait!

  OTLrelease     97806_OutsideTheLi_EB2.indd

The USA Today bestselling author of Outside the Lines once again explores love on the edge in an explosive new romance about obsession, betrayal, and a killer attraction. Lee Delgado never planned on falling in love with the irresistible Oliver Savoca, son of a Chicago crime lord. Considering that their families are rivals, she knew it could never work. And now that both their fathers have been nabbed on racketeering charges, any real chance at a future with the man she loves has been shot to hell. But a greater blow is yet to come. Not only does Lee learn that a contract is out on her life, she has reason to believe that Oliver is behind the devastating betrayal. Now she’s working closely—very closely—with Federal Agent Sean Callahan to help bring her man down. But however she’s come to feel about Callahan, Lee is still deeply, hopelessly, unabashedly in love with Oliver. Where that fearless love takes Lee next is beyond her control—but the risk is worth every beat of her heart.

REVIEW
4 stars!

I have not read the first book in this series, but I could totally pick this one up and follow right along and not be lost. Although, I am anxious to go back and read the first book to see what all lead up to where we start off in this book.

This story is about the Delgados children who are on the run. They have entered witness protection since their father got sent to jail and their mother was killed. Wes is in charge of their case as far as the witness protection goes. Lee is a young lady that is looking to get a job and try to out her life back together a little and get back to some normalcy since entering the program. Lee has applied for several jobs with no luck because she doesn't have any experience to put on her resume. When Lee gets a break and one of her friends tell her about a position that she knows about that is in accounting, Lee takes it even though her degree is in computer science. Lee just wants to have something to occupy her time.

Wes has been a good person for Lee to talk to and he is always looking to her for leads as to how her brother is doing as far as the program goes. Wes has to make sure they are not giving away their position and that they are doing what they are supposed to so that he can keep their location undercover. When Wes and Lee start to develop feelings for each other, it sort of complicates their relationship for a bit, but they soon fall into a comfortable zone and learn how to manage their relationship.

When Lee has a surprise visitor one day, she is so shocked that she ends up shooting him without even thinking. Oliver is a young man that Lee meet when she was in college and they both ended up using each other for information. When Lee took off with something that Oliver wanted, he continued to look for her even after she entered the witness protection. When he finally finds her and Lee shoots him, she also has to nurse him back from his injury. While she is nursing Oliver, she keeps him tied up in her room and hopes that no one will see him, but eventually her brother finds out about him. Lee and Oliver had developed feeling for each other while they were working with each other in her college years and Lee is certain that Oliver is her one true love. She can't stop thinking about him. When Oliver is taken out of Lee's way, what will happen then? Will Lee rely on Wes even more and turn to him for comfort? You need to read this mofia story to find out. I thought that there could have been a little more action for a mafia story, but overall this was a good read. Took me a little bit to get into the story but once it picked up it was good!

EXCERPT

I want Lee to know, no matter where she goes, I will find her. At the thought of her betrayal, rage rises up and wraps like an iron cloak around my heart, threatening to crush any bit of humanity left there. I close my eyes and hold my breath until it passes. And I see her as she was before everything that came after—that first day of business law class at Kellogg, nearly two years ago. She was starting her first year. I was in my second. I was already seated near Angela Bagglio, who I had a passing interest in due to her loose family ties to the Delgado organization. Her brother was a wiseguy wannabe, little more than a glorified gofer within the Delgado machine. But I’d discovered, sometimes it was the smallest details that led to the largest victories. When Lee Delgado sashayed into the classroom, I’d like to say I was unaffected. I’d like to believe I was in complete control of everything that happened then and after. But I’d be kidding myself. Her bright hazel eyes surveyed the room, and when they caught for a second as they passed over me, I felt a shift in gravity itself. There were times reading nuances in expressions and actions was all that came between me and a slug in my head. That hitch in her perusal of the room left no doubt she was aware who I was. From that second on, I was helpless to take my eyes off her. Her sandy brown waves cascaded over the shoulders of her cream-colored silk blouse to an open collar that hung loose, revealing a hint of cleavage. Her burgundy pencil skirt hugged the round curves of her hips and ass and ended above the knee, giving me a glimpse of a pair of toned thighs and calves. She had a killer body and knew it. I had to respect a woman who knew her strengths and wasn’t afraid to use them to her advantage. She took a seat in my row, but on the opposite side of the classroom. I was barely coherent when the professor started lecturing. I couldn’t tell you the first thing he said. As she listened, she lifted a hand and combed through her waves with her fingers, separating out a strand and twirling it around her finger. A rush shuddered from my tailbone up my spine to my brain, and even though I had no clue why, that was the moment I knew I wasn’t going to be able to stay away. The rest, as they say, is history. If she thinks she can hide from me, she’s got another thing coming. Mob controlled gambling has always been a huge racket, with better payouts because we don’t pay taxes like the legal betting sites. Back in the day, bookies were involved and actual cash changed hands. Now nearly everything is electronic. Bets are collected directly from our clients’ online accounts and payouts are distributed back into them. Payout is calculated after each event based on outcome versus the spread. It’s one of the parts of my job that I truly enjoy. I’m always in the program, tweaking and modifying. But, suddenly, the week before Christmas, two days after Lee and I returned from our weekend in Aspen, I noticed the spread didn’t factor anymore and our payouts went through the roof. I thought maybe I’d screwed something up and tried to get into the program to check it. Ended up throwing my laptop against the wall when my pass code wouldn’t get me in. It took me the next two days, and the fact that Lee wasn’t answering my texts or calls, to put together what had happened. Though I’m not sure exactly how she managed it, I know it had to have been her who hacked into my program and changed the payout ratios. I’ve looked at it from every angle and there are no other feasible possibilities. And it makes sense. I had an ulterior motive when we started hooking up, and I had no doubt she had one of her own. But as we got deeper into each other, things shifted and I lost focus. I let down my guard and gave her too much, and she took advantage of the opening. I knew I wouldn’t be seeing her over the holidays because her siblings were all coming back to the family home in Wilmette, just outside of Chicago, for Christmas. It took me another day to decide I had no choice but to go there. But when I got to the house, the place was swarming with cops and Feds, and yellow police tape was strung across the pillars at the front door. The reports the next day said it was believed the Delgados had fled to Europe after a “gangland style attack” on their home. The online gambling leg of our business has been bleeding cash at the rate of nearly a hundred grand a month since Lee fucked with the program. Every month it gets worse as word spreads of our big payouts. The guy who designed and encrypted the program is dead; a casualty of my father’s wrath when he made the mistake of telling Victor he’d corrected a system glitch that had cost us a couple hundred grand over the first year of implementation. I’ve done everything I can to break Lee’s pass code, but considering the illegal nature of the account, and the fact that I couldn’t enlist anyone who might report back to Victor what happened, my resources to resolve the issue have been severely limited. So I put my time and energy into another avenue. Finding Lee. Like everyone else in Chicago, I assumed that my father was responsible for the contract on Lee and her family. I talked to his guys. Tried to see if any of them had a bead on the Delgados’ location. I couldn’t find anyone who was even looking. So, as much as I dreaded it, I went straight to the source. I was dead to my father. He’d made that clear. But that day, for the first time since I’d crossed him, Victor looked at me with pride in his eyes when he asked, “You purchase that special delivery for our friends up in Wilmette?” And that’s when I knew it wasn’t us. It’s also when I knew I was a dead man unless I could find a way out of this mess on my own. So I looked harder for Lee, dug a little deeper into the Delgado family tree. I didn’t find her, but I managed to stumble on some other useful information during my search. And then, finally, the stroke of luck that led me here: Rob showing up in Chicago. I’ve been able to keep everything under the rug since she left, but underground betting has always been the Savoca business’s bread and butter. If Victor or anyone else in the organization discovers the hemorrhage of cash that our gambling ring has become, it’s my head my loving pop will want on a spike. I told the guys I had some personal business in Vegas; gave Al a direct order to park his ass at my apartment and not to move until I got back. I took a flight to Vegas, and from there, traveled to Florida on an ID I pinched off of a guy we rolled in Little Italy for not making book. He’s dead now, courtesy of Al, so he won’t be divulging my alter ego to anyone. My family doesn’t know this particular alias. They’d have a hard time tracking me. Once I find Lee, things should move pretty fast. But I have to find her first. So here I am.

Review- 4.5 Stars

What would you do if the man you loved was taken?  Would you fight like hell or give in to the overwhelming heartbreak?

This starts off right where book one left off.  Kaleb has been taken and is being held by the Drug Cartel.  The torture he endures about breaks him, but his one shining light is Jade.  She is consuming his thoughts and is determined to fight for his life.  He can't lose her.  Just when they start to break down barriers and she accepts he is the one for her, he may lose her and his life in the process.  Just when you think things can't get any worse, a curveball is thrown in and will have you saying...WTF!  What is the curveball?  Can Kaleb survive this?

Jade is fighting...fighting to go back...fighting to not lose her sanity...fighting to not give up.  Her heart was left back at that field, as she watched Kaleb being taken.  She can't lose him, when she just found him.  With determination she won't give up until they go back to rescue him.  As hours creep by Jade can't help but become more and more anxious.  Will they get to Kaleb in time?  Or will Jade lose him forever?  Will this be the only obstacle in their lives?

The action of the whole book is unbelievable.  You literally feel like you are right there with them.  Kathy and Hilary did such a great job with their descriptions of scenes that it made me want to join the Army...okay at least get me one hot military man...LOL.   Through the whole book, one thing after another is thrown into the mix.  I felt lost just a few times on the timeline.  Is this a matter of weeks or days or months?  Eventually, I figured it out and honestly it didn't matter much as I was sucked into the whole drama of the story.

The chemistry between these two jumps off the pages.  I seriously was fanning myself a few times saying “Oh lord”  Kaleb is seriously dirty.  I loved how both wanted to take control in the bedroom, but eventually Jade surrender to Kaleb.  He wanted to open her up, make her feel the intensity she made him feel...it was HOT!  The connection between them is only made stronger by the situations they find themselves in.  What I loved most was they communicate, at times it didn't seem that way, but in the end they did.  The push and pull of these two characters will have you chuckling a few times or at least smiling.  Jade is such a badass and Kaleb is totally alpha male.

The supporting characters I want more of them…I can't wait for Harris' story.  I can see something in him and know its going to be both sexy and funny.  I hope we get stories about the other guys because they have me intrigued, especially Jackson…Action Jackson!

If you want any intense, consuming, fan yourself sexy book...grab this series now!  I loved it and whipped right through the story, as it sucked me in that much.  Kathy and Hilary did a fantastic job with the characters and the storyline.  It flowed and grips you!  4.5 Fire and Ice Stars!

Excerpt
Love, a word never on my radar, has now taken over my existence.  My world revolves around this man.
I’m in love with him because of the deep connection I felt the second I saw him and dealing with the torture of this week has only intensified my feelings.  My mind went crazy, thinking of everything he went through, as I examined all of the marks on his body.  I can tell he was whipped many times.  The wounds are starting to heal, but I’m afraid the surface scars will always be there.  And I don’t even want to think about the internal scars something like this would bring.
I don’t care what he looks like or how much this will torment him.  He takes me and I take him just the way he is.  He’s been point blank about wanting me from the first day we met, and now it’s time I match his determination.  His blastoff introduction to have me on my knees that first day could’ve so easily gone a different way.  I’m just glad I felt the connection the second I laid my eyes on him.

Book Description:
A tough cop with an even tougher past, Hunter Sloan has never let anyone stop him from getting what he wants—and he wants Evangeline Ambrose bad. With her gentle curves and raw vulnerability, Hunter’s beautiful, mysterious new neighbor awakens his protective side. Determined to do right by a woman who’s gone through hell and back, Hunter could be the one to take away the pain—so long as his own secrets don’t sink their relationship before it begins.

Having escaped an abusive marriage, Evangeline simply wants to start over in the small, quiet town of Forrestville. She’s also avoiding all contact with the opposite sex, because she just can’t trust her instincts when it comes to men—not even with the sinfully sexy cop next door. So why can’t she stop thinking about him? Hunter has darkness in his soul, and yet no one ever made her feel so safe. For all her best laid plans, Evangeline didn’t count on choices this hard—or temptation this hot.

EXCERPT:

HUNTER
It’s late when I get home, but since it’s August, the sun hasn’t completely set yet. Orange and yellow lights filter down through the huge leaves in the front yard. For once, the small parking lot to the right of the building is filled. All six spots taken.

Looks like someone finally rented the last apartment available. It just so happens to be the one across from mine.

My apartment is one of six in a huge mansion built in the early 1900s that was recently converted. It’s quiet. Peaceful. People are friendly but aren’t all up in your business.

All in all, it’s the perfect place. Though this neighborhood doesn’t hold the best memories for me. I’d gotten into a lot of fights. Fights with other kids and the man who couldn’t keep his hands off my mom.

I think that’s why I had to come back—to face my demons. To show the people who do remember my family and me that I’ve done something with my life. That I am one of the good guys now, that I’ve stopped fighting to stay alive to be a man who fights against crime. Like a superhero. Only without the cool costume or billions in the bank.

Two out of three isn’t bad.

Just as I step onto the brick path that leads to the side entrance, I get a glimpse of a woman with light brown hair. She’s attempting to balance moving boxes while unlocking the door.

For no logical reason, my heart speeds up. I jog over to her while calling out, “Hey there. Need some help?”

“Gosh, yes,” she says with a laugh that makes my groin tight. Now this in an improvement. I can’t see her face, but if that laugh is enough to make me stand up and take notice . . . my imagination runs wild. Maybe I don’t have to get her out of my head after all.

I pick up a couple of boxes. “Hey, I’m Hunter, by the way.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Evangeline,” she says, turning to face me. Her body freezes—only for a moment or two—but it’s long enough for me to notice.

Besides, I’d recognize those gorgeous blue-green eyes anywhere. “I know who you are.”

“You do?” She scrunches her brow as if she’s deep in thought. “I’m sorry that I can’t say the same.”

“Maybe I’m mistaken.” Maybe the pope will get married tomorrow. Taking the boxes, I wait for her to open the door.

Another peal of laughter has me rock hard in two seconds flat after it leaves her mouth. “I have one of those faces. Last week, at the grocery store, someone mistook me for Scarlett Johansson. She’s filming a movie here, so . . .”

The only thing the woman in front of me has in common with Scarlett Johansson is the fact that they are both female. I don’t know why she’s pretending like she doesn’t know me, but what I do know . . . She’s a damn liar.

The woman standing in front of me is Evangeline Ambrose, the same woman I haven’t been able to get out of my head for months. The same woman I escorted to a battered women’s shelter. The same woman I had no business asking after.

“What a coincidence, someone mistook me for her, too,” I reply drily.

She blinks up at me, her mouth twitching at the corners, but she doesn’t laugh again. I know it’s because she sees the serious look on my face.

“You’re not that pretty,” she says, giving me a whole other side to her. One I like.

“Most women think I am,” I disagree. What the hell has just left my mouth?

Walking in front of me, she leads the way to her apartment. “Good for them. You, too.”

As she begins to ascend the stairs, my gaze goes right to her ass. The faded denim cups her just right as it stretches with her movements.

“Lived here long?” I ask, trying to keep my thoughts aboveboard, or above her plump ass anyway.

“Nope.”

That’s all she says until we arrive at her apartment. If I weren’t carrying these boxes, I have no doubt she would have run from me by now.

She stops in front of a blue door and unlocks it, before turning to me. “I can take it from here.”

“I’m happy to help you. It’s in my job description.”

Her lips part, and the urge to kiss her rides me hard. She’s so damn pretty. So delicate. What man in his right mind would ever try to harm someone so much smaller than himself?

A man like your father, that’s who, I remind myself.

“You’re the onsite manager?” she asks with false cheerfulness. “How nice.”

I can’t believe she’s going to continue this lie. I know it’s a lie. She knows it’s a lie, and she has to know that I know it’s a lie.

“Nope,” I reply, hoping that my answer grates on her nerves as much as hers did mine. “Not the manager.”

“Okay, then.” She nods, opening the door and taking the boxes from me. “Thanks again. Maybe I’ll see you around.”

“Count on it,” I say with a grin, and walk to the door directly across from hers.

“Dream on,” she mutters loud enough for me to hear.

Oh baby, I don’t have to dream.
“What are you doing?” she practically screeches.

“Going home.” Glancing over my shoulder at her, I unlock my door. “That’s what I do each day after work.”

“But you can’t.”

Turning around, I cross my arms over my chest. “But I can.”

“No.” She shakes her head, her chin becoming mutinous. “I refuse to—” She smashes her lips together and whirls around, slamming the door behind her.

“Nice talking to you,” I say, loud enough to reach her ears. I know she won’t answer me, but I can’t help but push her. I want her to open the door and acknowledge me. To tell the truth, actually, and admit she knows exactly who I am.

That I’m the guy who helped save her life.
