REVIEW- 3.5 Stars
This is a
very sexy, quick read. I can appreciate a fast paced story that is pretty much
all about the steam. Sometimes, that’s just what I’m in the mood for. However,
if you are looking for meaty plot, this isn’t where you’ll find it.
Never-the-less, I enjoyed it. Just to clarify, there is a lot of talk about the
hardcore BSDM, but the books only goes into the art of ropes in detail. So, if
you’re not a fan of BDSM (which I’m not) I think you will still enjoy the book.
As
characters, I really enjoyed Cassidy and David. I loved the tenderness that
David exhibited, while also having a dirty, desperate craving for her. It was
sexy as hell. His explanations about his type of rope play and BDSM were
intriguing, as well as his need to help her let go of her fears. Every step of
the way, he makes sure that she is completely willing before proceeding. He’s
just very tender and sweet, but with an alpha yumminess that rears its head
too.
Cassidy
is an interesting character, she’s got some sass, but is very insecure. She had
a crappy childhood growing up, but while the true nature of it is alluded to,
we don’t find out anything but the bare bones and it left me wondering what all
the fuss was about… She’s open minded and eager to try new things, fighting her
own instincts to withdraw into her safety zone.
There
is a little plot to carry the story along, however it’s weak, but that’s mainly
because that isn’t what the story is about. It’s about Cassidy and David, their
relationship, and sexual and self-discovery. I don’t want to spoil anything so
I’ll just say, when the cat’s out of the bag, David should have known right
then, and I just didn’t see his character making the choices that he did. To
me, it didn’t jive with the guy the author was portraying throughout.
As
I said though, it’s a quick, steamy read and while it won’t be on my re-read
list, it was enjoyable.
