Review: Meeting His Match

Meeting His Match (Match Me #1)
Katee Robert

Published by: Entangled – Lovestruck
Publication Date: July 21, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance

4.5 Stars!

From Goodreads:

When New York matchmaker Addison St. Claire is tasked with matching her best friend's new brother-in-law, she almost refuses. But the sexy southern CEO turns out to be a challenge she can't resist, because if anyone needs to meet his soul mate, it's this man. And if matching him with someone else removes the temptation of being near him? Even better.

The last thing Caine McNeill needs is a matchmaker—especially a gorgeous redhead who spouts nonsense about soul mates, critiques what he drives and how he dresses, buys him a dog, and pesters him about a million little things he couldn't care less about. It's a crying shame he has to keep his hands off because chemistry like what's flaring between them ought to be explored. Thoroughly.

And so the battle begins. Addison is determined to stick to her plan of setting him up on dates with other women, and Caine is equally determined to ignore these women and seduce her

This is a quick read, but a fun and sexy one! Caine is quite delicious.
Their sparks fly all over the place immediately. Cain is irritated and
a little ego-bruised when Addison blows into his life insisting that he
needs her to find him a woman. Not just any woman, his soul mate.
He realizes pretty quickly that he just wants her. I always love a
hero who knows when he meets the right woman, doesn’t fight it,
and he pursues her. Caine definitely made me swoon a time or two
 with his wit and sexiness!

"I'm not going to tattoo my name on your ass. I'm asking you to be my girlfriend.”

Addison is sweet and lively. She is full of energy and appears very carefree, on the outside. Inside, she is sad and quite lonely. A dedicated matchmaker who seems sweet but has a dry sarcasm that seeps out from time to time.

"So let me get this straight. You have no hobbies.
You don't care what this woman looks like as long
as she can "doll herself up" and entertain herself
and pop out a few babies for you?"

I liked Addison at first, however, she did begin to frustrate me.
She took much too long to come to the realization that while Aiden
may or may not have been her soul mate, Cain may be a 2nd chance
at love and a family. She clings to the belief that we only get one sou
l mate with a death grip. I would have liked to see her come to this
realization a little quicker. She could still be afraid to take a chance with Cain,
but her comments about soul mates began to be too repetitive.
However, I very much enjoyed this book!  The ending was sweet and I truly
loved them as a couple. Plus, I do love an epilogue...

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Katee Robert, learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back. Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way, as it often does, and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published. www.kateerobert.com

Review: Bittersweet Blood by Nina Croft

Bittersweet Blood: A Novel of The Order
(The Order # 1)
 Nina Croft

Published by: Entangled Edge
Publication Date: February 17, 2013
Genre: Adult Paranormal

4. 5 Stars

From Goodreads:

Tara’s eccentric aunt raised her to be fearful of the world and follow the rules. But after her aunt’s death, Tara is ready to take control and experience life for the first time. But she quickly discovers that everything she’s been told is a web of lies. Determined to solve the mystery of who she is truly, she hires private investigator to help her uncover the truth.

Christian Roth is more than your average PI. A vampire and ex-demon hunter, Christian lives among the humans, trying to be “normal.” But recently, things seem to be falling apart. There’s a crazed demon hell-bent on revenge hunting him down, and a fae assassin on the loose with an unknown target. And the Order he abandoned desperately needs his help.

As the secrets of Tara’s past collide with the problems in Christian’s present, she finds herself fighting her attraction to the dark and mysterious investigator. Falling in love does not fit into her plans at all, but Tara soon learns that some rules are meant to be broken.

I la big fan of Nina Croft! I loved Bittersweet Blood, it was definitely what I’ve come to expect from this author. Tara, has grown up completely sheltered from the world. When her aunt dies, she embarks on a mission to experience the world and find out who she is. Christian Roth is a private investigator. Oh, and did I mention a sexy as hell, badass, vampire? Tara approaches him to find out where she is from and in the process, he discovers she is more part of his world than the one she's trying to find her way in. Dark things are stirring on the supernatural side. Christian fights to discover the culprit of the unrest and along the way, discovers that he must protect Tara, since she is also being hunted.
Christian Roth will get your blood pumping. He's a sexy combination of dark/danger and chivalry. His fierce protectiveness and passionate love for Tara are a hot combination.

“I’d hoped you would come to me because you couldn’t stay away. […]
Each night I’ve awoken and fought the urge to come to you.
Claim you. Force you to accept what you are and what we could have.”

Tara is sweet and trying to be brave. She drove me a little crazy from time to time, but I loved her anyway. She discovers her bravery eventually and that redeemed her idiotic need to have a “normal” life. She is a fun and her chemistry with Christian is dreamy.

“Of course, it could be that the whole ‘breaking the rules’'
thing was just screwing with her mind, that right now, she
was predisposed to seeing weirdness in everything.”

Nina Croft has does a great job of keeping a smirk on my face. Her dialogue is witty and the sarcasm is so very dry…my favorite kind! The story kept me interested and there were definitely some unexpected twists. Overall, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to Piers’ story!

Review: Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Opposition (Lux Series #5)
Jennifer L. Armentrout

Published By: Entangled Publishing/ Entangled Teen
Publication Date: August 5, 2014
Genre: YA - Paranormal

5 Stars!

From Goodreads:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become as emotion that could destroy her- could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, eben if that means betrayal.

They must team with as unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything- even what they cherish most- to ensure the surviival of their friends...and mankind.

War has come to earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

If you have reached Opposition, you’ve more than likely read the rest of the Lux series. Which means you already know how out of this world it is (pun intendedJ)! This was a bittersweet read, it is so hard to say goodbye to a series you love. However, that’s the joy of books! I’ll return to them again and again…

Daemon and Katy have been through so much, this conclusion could have gone down many paths. I was almost afraid to open the book. Especially after the conclusion of Origin. Who would we lose? What will be destroyed? How could Daemon and Katy find their happily ever after? I waited almost 20 minutes before cracking it open!

I was certainly thrown for a loop in the beginning. I couldn’t believe that Daemon and Dawson would leave their girls! So, right off, I was on the edge of my seat!

“Holy Alien Babies!” -Katy

Daemon is the cocky ass with a sweet side that we have come to expect. In Opposition, he blew me away!!!! Daemon cracks open his shell and lets us see the vulnerable side. The side that is created, shaped, and consumed by Katy.

“I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I married you and burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world - in any world - would be stronger than my love for you?” - Daemon

The book moves incredibly fast, I was flying through the pages in order to get to the next one. However, while that is traditionally a good thing…it ended way too soon. In the end, I shut the book happy with the conclusion to the series. JLA answered many questions that have been floating around in our minds since the early days of the series. The story really did come full circle, and while I’d always be on board to read more Daemon and Katy, I was content with their happy ending and am satisfied to get more by re-reading the series. Their love story is epic and
Jennifer L. Armentrout does not disappoint. Her characters become a part of our lives, a part of our family. It’s always hard to part ways with family. Especially a Book Boyfriend as yummy as Daemon…
