Damn! Damn! Damn!
This Is Me, Baby is the fifth book in K. Webster amazing series War & Peace. I get swept away when I read these because the story is so good, the characters are real and you can’t help but want to know WTF these people are doing. Its like a car accident, you want to know all the details, but are only allowed a few. What goes on in Kristi’s mind?? Seriously, this woman is crazy, she’s nuts and I think I am slowly following her!!
This picks up right where we left off in the devastating end of book four. I don’t think I have been so mad at an author in a long time. K. Webster destroyed me...she destroyed me. This review is going to be hard to do because so many things will give spoilers away. Soooooooo here I go. Everyone is in this book. Gabe and Psycho(Hannah), War and Bay, Calder and Lucia, and of course Ren and Brie. I wasn’t sure where Kristi was going to take this after what happened, but she did a sensational job with this book. We are introduced to a new character...DIEGO! Oh lord, Daddy Diego...rawr! I will say there is some humor in this...Larry(oh Larry)
This is Me, Baby is going to take you on an epic ride. Your mind is going to be blown away. All the people in this family are cray cray! But when push comes to shove they do have each others backs...I know weird considering the dynamics. Hannah screwed all of this up, she’s the one the started the cycle. I blame Gabe for some, but its hard to blame him when you are obsessed with him...LOL. So get ready...Lies are told, blood is shed, love is lost and found, and truths are uncovered!
Ren what can I say about him...he’s grown up. He is not the same boy we met! Nope he’s mature yet he’s also got a bit of a dark side. He’s full of rage for all the shit that has gone on and he 100% blames his sister Hannah. He detests her and that is putting it mildly. The only thing that keeps Ren calm is Brie. He loves her unconditionally and wants to help heal her broken parts, but will Brie let Ren in? Can Ren convince her to give him her heart again, even if all that is left is a sliver?
I thought I loved Baylee, but Brie might just be the strongest one. She is resilient, I want to say indestructible, but I don’t think that is true. This girl has been to hell and back and is coming out strong on the other side. Her tough times are not over, but at least she has the backing of people who care about her...especially Ren. But will she take their help and learn to trust again? Can she give Ren what he wants or tell him to run far away from her destructive path?
The chemistry between Brie and Ren is magnetic! I found myself getting swept up in the agony of their relationship. Brie is using Ren. Ren loves her and is willing to do whatever it takes to bring Brie back. There were times I felt “really how much more are you going to take Ren” “C’mon Brie give him you...you are wanting too, but you have to let go!” Where is the tigress??
UGH!! I want to say so much...K. Webster took us on another overwhelming angsty ride. She keeps shoving the pain in our face and we keep gobbling it up...we are sick! LOL! The writing is always on point with her. I always say I am not going to be surprised by her and she does it every single time! Make sure you are holding on because its going to be a tough one. Its intense, sexy, scary, and lots of twists! 5 Psychotic Stars!!
