Another fantastic read
by Marquita Valentine! Prime Target is a step away from the other books I’ve
read by this author. It’s full of suspense, action, and even a little darkness.
However, it still has the sweet love and hot chemistry I’ve come to love in all
of Marquita’s books.
Roman is stuck, cuffed
to his past and the long reach of his Russian mob family. He was raised to be
an assassin and he’s always done his job with perfection, never failing. While
awaiting his assignments, he lives under the cover of aliases and stays in the
background of life. Unfortunately, this time, he encounters a game changer in
the form of a sweet woman named Everly. She is a distraction, a danger to him
and herself if they become close, and everything good that Roman believes he
can never have. But, he can’t help himself and eventually a colleague encourages
him to take her out on a date. Passion, love, life, they all explode.
Everly is forever
crushing on Roman. She’s done everything she can to give him hints of her
feelings for him. Despite his Jekyl & Hyde attitude, often seeming to
reciprocate her feelings and other times, having her feelings bruised. Then her
dreams appear to be coming true, Roman has asked her out. Then life takes a
crazy turn and the story begins to pick up speed. Her world becomes a whirlwind
of passion, secrets, and love.
Both of the main
characters in this book were so much fun to get to know. The author does a
great job of giving the reader something to connect to, but at the same time,
she doesn’t; remove the mystery that every person should have a little of. It’s
rare to keep me on my toes with a suspense novel, I am usually able to predict
most of it. There were a few times I guess right, but generally, I was often
surprised.
I loved this book and I
can’t wait for Marquita’s next great read!
