5* #Review The Play by Karina Halle @MetalBlonde @InkSlingerPR

A troubled Scottish rugby player who doesn't play by the rules.
A vivacious man-eater who's given up on love.
When it comes to Lachlan and Kayla, opposites don't just attract - they explode.

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine until she hit her thirties and saw her best friends Stephanie and Nicola settle down with Linden and Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla to be the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put men on the backburner.

That is until she lays her eyes on Linden and Bram’s cousin, hot Scot Lachlan McGregor. Lachlan is her sexual fantasy come to life – tall, tatted, and built like a Mack truck. With a steely gaze and successful rugby career back in Edinburgh, he’s the kind of man that makes her want to throw her vow right out the window. But Lachlan’s quiet and intense demeanor makes him a hard man to get to know, let alone get close to.

It isn’t until the two of them are thrown together one long, unforgettable night that Kayla realizes there is so much more to this brooding macho man than what meets the eye. But even with sparks flying between the two, Lachlan can’t stay in America forever. Now, Kayla has to decide whether to uproot her whole life and chance it all on someone she barely knows or risk getting burned once again.
Sometimes love is a game that just needs to be played.

Review - 5 Stars
Oh my stars...my first book by this author and I'm over the moon in love. I loved this and fell madly in love with the characters. I just wanted to squeeze, smack and love on both of them. They were destined for each other...a match made perfectly.

Kayla was a little spitfire. She's the type of girl you want as a friend. She's loyal, sweet, loving and a hoot! Omg I laughed a lot at the things that came out of her mouth. She was a no holds bar girl, but yet when Lachlan was around she held back some. He stirred things in her that were unfamiliar. She is so drawn to him and his broody ways. But she knows it won't last....love never lasts.

Lachlan was troubled and a little tortured. He's got a very dark and sad past that he can't seem to let go. It's guilt that is eating at him and no one can help him. It doesn't let people in as he prefers to brood in his own loneliness. Except he can't get this little feisty girl out of his mind. She seems to bring the sun with her every time she's around him. With time running out will he grab ahold of her?

every time I picture his face, that body, that gravelly voice that holds a million secrets, I get this rush inside me, like birds being let loose from a cage

They were magnetic together and holy hell it was HOT! It was explosive, dirty and passionate....almost animalistic. Hot damn!!!
They both have issues and people don't quite completely understand them, but together they click. The inner conflicts both of them face was heartbreaking. I just wanted to hug them both and tell them with love you can get through this...trust your heart not your head. Trust each other and lean on each other

I want him to trust me enough to to open up to me and let me in and show me around. Show me his fears and the demons on his back. I want to lose myself in his beautiful darkness. I want my love to be the one thing to bring him light.

The last 20% I cried and cried. My heart hurt for both of them. Karina wove a beautiful love story. It's intense, heartbreaking, and funny. This definitely gives you a ride of emotions...I found myself absorbed into their lives, their drama and their love. Love is not easy, it's hard and it's work. Karina shows us that with this story. Her writing was flawless and I'm definitely moving up her other books on my TBR list. Yes, I know crazy that this is my first read by her....This is a long book, but you will get so into their story, you won't even realize it until you are at the end. This will be a re-read for me. I highly recommend this.  Plus I love that she is donating part of the proceeds to animal charities.  Buy it!
