REVIEW - 3.75
English Ivy was a sweet romance mixed with some drama...what I enjoyed about the book was the relationship between the friends.  The Late Bloomers had each other's backs.  They were like sisters and best friends who offered the best advice.

I loved that Ivy was not some young woman.  She's a forty something woman who’s established in her career, but chooses to make changes.  She feels stuck and wants some more adventure.  What she doesn't expect us to fall for the womanizer Rueben.

Rueben was pushy, cocky and funny.  I enjoyed his Spanish flair and his determination to get Ivy.  She's intrigued him from the minute he saw her.  Can he get her to open her heart and try something she's closed off from?

This was full of drama...I don't want to get into too much because it will ruin the book.  However, I will say things aren't always as good as they seem.  Which path do you take?  Love, career or something completely unknown....take this journey with Ivy and see what she decides.

This book is about finding oneself, unexpected love, letting barriers down and true friendship.  I'm rating this 3.75 stars because I didn't like how Ivy was wishy washy with Rueben.  I felt that she'd pull him in and then push him away.  It's also not very steamy, it has some steam, but I wanted more.  Just a personal opinion.  The writing is good and Overall, this is fast and very sweet book.  3.75 Stars.

I wanted to jump.
He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up.

Review - 5 Stars

So here's the thing. I'm obsessed with Aly Martinez's words. And by that I mean that anything she writes, I devoured. I don't know why I was surprised that this book sucked me in by the first sentence, but I was, and I spent the rest of my time reading this with my jaw hanging on the floor stunned at how beautiful this story was. Five stars? No, that rating wouldn't do this justice. I'd say five hundred might do the trick.
First of all, the love, the romance, it got to me. It was the definition of perfection from page one. I fell in love with the characters and I fell in love with them as a whole. It takes some skill to craft a romance this beautifully, and Aly rocked it. I loved the vulnerability of Levee. She was this perfect contradiction of strong and broken and determined to fix it. She didn't whine. Nor did she complain. She simply lived and when she met Sam, she lived well. And Sam, good lord where do I start? He was this profoundly deep character. And I found myself connecting with his story in so many ways. I wanted to reach into the pages and hug him, among other things. Sarcastic and handsome with a giant heart, he's my definition of perfection.
This story is so much more than romance, though. It shows the road to recovery and how, it may not always be easy, but the way there can be beautiful. I found myself laughing out loud and silently sobbing a time or two. And I found myself thinking of this story, even when I wasn’t reading it.
I loved it and I swear, it’s one of the best books I've read this year. If you haven't picked it up yet, just do it. Don't think about it. Stop reading the reviews on it, and do it because you're book life will be changed after it.

Excerpt

“Thank fuck!” Sam said, swinging the door open before Devon even had the car in park.
“Oh, this isn’t my place. We’re just dropping Devon off. I’m about twenty minutes across town?”  I tossed him a sugary smile then boldly shifted my hand into his lap, purposely brushing the bulge under his denim.
Grabbing my wrist, he narrowed his eyes and called out, “Devon, I’m gonna need to borrow a bedroom.”
I burst out laughing as Devon cursed loudly.
“Fine. This is my place. No smoking inside though,” I snipped as I climbed from the SUV.
“You better have some seriously exciting extracurricular activities to keep me distracted, then.”
“I have Ping-Pong!”
“Not exactly what I was thinking.” He mischievously cocked his head. “But I guess paddles and balls are as good a start as any.” Dipping down, he hoisted me over his shoulder. “Point me to the Ping-Pong table, my lady.”
I didn’t. I laughed hysterically as he carried me inside. Then I directed him to my bedroom instead.
I heard Devon locking up the house as Sam deposited me on the bed.
“Jesus. This view.”  He pushed the curtains back. “Why the hell would you ever go up to the bridge when you have this here?”
“I don’t know,” I answered, pulling my earrings off and placing them on my nightstand.
Oh, but I knew. It might not have been what had originally sent me up that bridge, but it was why my feet carried me back every night. And that very reason was currently standing in front of me with entirely too much clothing on.
“You want a beer?” I asked, sliding my shoes off.
“Nah, I’m good.” He faced me, and I could tell something was off with his demeanor. He didn’t inch any closer. Instead, his lips were tight and his eyes uncomfortably flashed around the room.
It suddenly didn’t feel like Sam standing in front of me at all.
He felt like a stranger who had just come face-to-face with Levee Williams.
Damn it.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Are you about to freak out?” I whispered, nervously moistening my lips.
He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’m not really sure yet. But I’m gonna need you to stop licking your lips long enough for me to figure it out.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin, and my shoulders relaxed.
Now that was a flash of my Sam.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked.
“It’s just… I think this is the first time I’ve realized that you’re some big-time celebrity. I might be in over my head here, Designer Shoes.”
“I just make music, Sam.” I returned his smile and very slowly prowled in his direction. “Imagine how I feel though. You’re Samuel Nathan Rivers. A tough, tattooed furniture designer who makes six figures a year but is too afraid to tell his mommy he votes democratic.” I giggled as he frowned humorously. Stopping in front of him, I dragged a fingernail down his chest then teased the waistband of his jeans. “Have you considered that maybe I’m the one who’s in over her head here?” I leaned forward to nip at his lips, but he spun us around.
“Excellent point. I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.
“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.
That one corny joke was all it took to bring my Sam back completely.
With a sexy smile and a coy shrug, he seductively backed me toward the bed. “What can I say? I like to be prepared.”
“Clearly,” I breathed.
He moved in close so his lips were only a centimeter away, but for as much as I wanted him, it was agonizing. “Clearly,” he repeated, his smoky yet sweet breath breezing across my mouth.
His strong arm looped around my waist, tugging me against his chest, while I stared into his hooded eyes, eagerly waiting for him to make a move.
Any move.
Every move.

Review - 3 Stars
I enjoyed this story. It was cute and sweet.  It takes place in a small town and includes the all of the drama and perks of small town life. Serendipity Summer is a  romance that displays sensuality mixed with humor and light drama.

Anna is a single mother of a pre-teen. She inherits a bed and breakfast and decides to try to make it successful. She and her daughter up root their lives to try to make a better future. The last thing that Anna expects is to run into the man who stole her heart five years ago.

Jake is a successful business man who has a passion for photography. He is successful but unhappy with his career. He decides to take life by the horns and do what he loves. When he runs into Anna five years later he is still successful and has achieved most of his dreams.

There was a lot missing from this story for me. I was intrigued at the beginning and was looking forward to getting to  know the characters. Only that never happened. Their initial connection was built in the prologue. The next thing that I knew it was five years later and the scene was set for the characters to meet again.

I kept feeling like I skipped pages or was missing something. I didn't get any real foundation for me to grasp on to.

The idea is sweet and beyond romantic but I didn't have enough to feel for the characters. I didn't connect with the hero or the heroine.

Anna was an amazing mother but you only see her interact with her daughter a few times. James loves photography but you don't get to see it in action. Over all it was a nice story but I needed more.

Seized by Love – 5 Stars

I am a huge fan of Melissa Foster and of course, this series did not disappoint as well. I love the way that Melissa always makes her books feel so life like. It is like she literally took the characters out of today's world and just wrote a story about them. I can always connect with the characters and the books flow so easily! I am so happy that there is going to be a Ryder's series!!

Lizzy is a young lady that owns a flower shop and paid for the start-up with the money that she makes from her Webcast, Naked Baker. Lizzy has kept the Naked Baker a secret because she is not proud of what she does and does not want people judging her for that. Lizzy also helps pay for her sister's college, books, and any other things she might need with the money she makes form the Naked Baker. As soon as Lizzy gets her sister through college and on her own, she has promised herself that she will just have the flower shop and quit the Naked Baker before anyone can figure out that it is her.

Blue Ryder has been in love with Lizzy since he meet her a year ago, but Lizzy has avoided all of his requests to go on a date for some reason. Blue is a good guy that keeps to himself pretty much. When Lizzy needs help with her oven heating element, she calls Blue. Of course, he is always there to help her and of course he is going to ask her one more time about going out with him. When Lizzy finally gives into Blue, he knows that all he has to do is let Lizzy feel the same feelings that he does for her and she will be hooked on them as well.

Blue and Lizzy go out and things heat up the instant they are together and things just feel right for both of them. As their relationship begins to progress and Lizzy wonders why it has taken herself so long to go out with Blue, there is still a nagging in the back of her mind that is bugging her. Blue has no idea that Lizzy is the Naked Baker. How is she going to break the news to him and will he accept the fact that she has done what she had to do to help her sister and herself out to get to where they are? When Lizzy finally gets up the nerve to tell Blue, things do not go as Lizzy thought they would. Blue has several questions for Lizzy and he lays it all out on the line for her. Will their relationship be strong enough to last this obstacle? Will they find their way back to each other and get their HEA? You really should read this book if you love romantic stories that are real life. This one will not disappoint you at all.

Thanks Melissa Foster for keeping us reading and for writing things that make us long for more in the series!! I can't wait for more in the near future!

LOVING LUCAS
Lies & Leather #1
Violetta Rand
Releasing Oct 20th, 2015
Loveswept

Perfect for fans of Joanna Wylde and Monica Murphy, Violetta Rand’s explosive new Lies & Leather series kicks off with a red-hot motorcycle racer who rides hard and plays for keeps.

Twenty-one-year-old Karlie Augustine is a survivor. She’s smart and tough, but she’s in too deep with a bad boyfriend who isn’t above breaking her spirit—or her body. Luckily, help arrives in the form of a leather-clad, motorcycle-riding hunk on the right side of the law. Lucas Lafontaine is pure muscle, a Corpus Christi cop who ignites something primal deep within Karlie. And when he offers her room and board in exchange for housekeeping, she finally starts to feel safe again.

As their arrangement turns deliciously decadent, Lucas gets hooked on Karlie’s killer body and fighting spirit. He wants to heal the pain he sees behind her eyes, but to protect her he needs to keep her close, especially now that her psycho ex won’t take a hint. Even as Lucas fights his own battle for custody of his young son, he knows that what he’s found with Karlie is real—and that he’d do anything to protect the woman he wants to take to the finish line.

Review - 4.5 Stars!
I loved The Devil’s Den series and I loved that this book was an offshoot. I have really enjoyed all of Violetta’s book that I have read and I was looking forward to this one. It’s every bit as good as the others I’ve read! Violetta often touches on some pretty serious subjects and while she uses them to build an interesting story, I didn’t feel over whelmed with the heainess that can often accompany a story involving an abusive boyfriend.
Karlie hasn’t had all of her spirit destroyed as the book opens and we immediately get to see a spark of fire in her that I hoped would grow. The character finds a good balance between the two personality traits that accompany the beaten down, unsure woman, and the fighter wth determination to succeed. The flips back and forth are pretty typical of someone in her situation, progression dn regression being her constant companions. She has a deep sense of loyalty that really makes you love and admore her.
My only complaint with Karlie was her obsession with feeling as though she is empty for not knowing her history. Biology doesn’t make a person. You are mostly a product of your environment and beyond that, you are still what you choose to be. Failing to recognize that will eventually ruin your future. Especially when finding out your history only makes your negative opinions of yourself worse.
Lucas…oh my, Lucas. That man is all that is delicious in a man. He is valiant and chivalrous, helping a damsel in distress when no one else would. He doesn’t fight very hard at opening himself back up to love after being destroyed by his ex-wife. He’s dedicated to his job as a cop, to loving Karlie, and to helping her find her way. He dominates just enough to be sexy as hell, then whips out the soft and sweet guy that just makes you melt. That’s not to say he isn’t without flaws, or he would be unbelievable as a hero. The difference is that he is able to recognize those flaws and try to overcome them.
The chemistry between these two it HOT! More than once, I went to read in front of the air conditioner. The emotional chemistry is just as stong and I loved watching their relationship grow beyond the way they burn up the sheets in the bedroom.
It was certainly fun to revisit Craig from The Devil’s Den series, and I really enjoyed Karlie’s friends, Brandon & Marie. They often brought a lighter dynamic to the story, keeping it from becoming too serious. They radiate with love for eachother and Karlie.
I hope there are more books coming in this series. I will look forward to them with anticipation. I also like that fact that this book was a fairly quick read, not just the length, but with a fast moving plot. It doesn’t rush, but I felt satisfied at the end, finding resolution without feeling as though I’m ready to give up and just be done with the book. Instead, I anticipated another book, wishing there were more to move on to right away.
