This
was a hard book for me to read. Not because of the writing, no.
It's because of everything that MacKenzie went through. Domestic abuse is
a hard subject to read, write and experience. River does a wonderful job
not glossing it over. She lets you experience everything Kenzie went
through. Every tear, every fear, every black eye, every broken
bone. But yet she also shows Kenzie strength on getting out. I was
so interested in her story when we are first introduced to her. I
couldn't wait for River to give us her and Beau's story.
I'm looking at the man who saved me, the man who gave me a second chance, and hopefully can save me again.
MacKenzie has had a tough life. She lost her parents when she was young and had to uproot her life to a new town and new people. She lost her Gran so she literally had no family until she married Chad. She thought she had the perfect life until he started to slowly take things away from her...he broke her spirit and abuse her physically. She knew that one day she would die so she got out, but not before he destroyed her body. With the help of a beautiful biker who made her feel safe, she left. Would she ever feel completely safe after Chad's last words to her? Would she ever find happiness again?

Beau...Beau...Beau! He's such a mystery. He's totally alpha, but he also shows a different side to MacKenzie....it was incredibly sweet. I could feel there was this heartbroken intense guy underneath this badass biker. His past is seriously heartbreaking. I understood where he got his motivation from....his guilt kept eating at him and he needed to do whatever he could to save these woman. Every time he helped one he saw his sister Missy until he saw MacKenzie. She's the first face that's affected him, but he knew he couldn't stay. He wasn't good for her and she didn't need any more destruction. Will Beau get this woman out of his head?

I know who I want about about next and I hope it's them!! The secrets and lies that are told through this story are just adding to the intense ride River loves to give. However, there is some humor thrown in too that has you chuckling about this bikers and their woman.

River writes about a very hard and real issue, but does it with extreme honest and realism. She doesn't sugarcoat it. It may be hard for some to read this story, but it is truth. There is a beautiful message that River does give to her readers or at least I felt she did. She gives strength and realism to her characters. She doesn't give you any fake crap...This is one of the reason she is a 1 click for me. I highly recommend this series. Yes it's a MC series, but each book is more than that. There is a true loving story underneath all the beautiful chaos she writes! Is this my favorite one, no Jesse's story will probably always be my favorite. But it doesn't make this one any less of an experience....buy this book!!!
