I failed her.
She loves me.

Tristan Westdyke seems to have it all: he's handsome, athletic, smart, and admired. What people don't see beyond the façade, though, is the pain and guilt eating away at his soul. Blaming himself for the loss of another person, Tristan trudges through life not allowing himself to feel.
But when the beautiful and energetic Katelyn Sharp barrels into his life, Tristan is helpless to resist emotions long buried. A connection slowly grows between the two, yet secrets and deceit threaten to shatter the fragile trust and love they’ve found.

“You scare me.” I decided to go as honest as I could. My heart was pounding with both my admission and something else I couldn’t identify.
She scoffed. “Uh, do you see me? How can this—” she gestured to herself “—intimidate you?”
I slowly perused her from her sandal-clad feet, up the short black dress, and all the way to her now flushing face. “Yeah. I see you,” I whispered as I peered into her deep brown eyes.
She was dumbstruck at my words and let her guard down for a second. Then she seemed to snap out of it, shaking her head as if to clear her thoughts. “Screw this.” Kate turned, breaking our stare down to jam her key into the lock.
So quickly that even I didn’t know how it happened, I moved and suddenly I had her pinned against the wall next to the door. Her purse and keys clattered to the floor. “Hey!” she started to protest, but she trailed off as she realized that our faces were inches away from each other—a fact that I was now also painfully aware of. I had her hands restrained above her head with both of my own, and my lower body was against hers so that she couldn’t move. “Tristan, what—” she started to ask.
“I don’t know,” I managed to get out before my lips crashed into hers. I moaned when her mouth immediately opened to me. And she answered me back with her own sweet whimper as our tongues tangled together. She wiggled until she was able to hook one of her long legs around my waist. I let go of her hands to grab both of her legs, running my hands up and down her smooth thighs before resting my hold under her ass so I could grip her tighter against me. I couldn’t stop—I needed to explore all of her mouth, memorize the sounds she made, and show her all the things I couldn’t say with words.
After I had released her hands, Kate ran them over my chest, causing me to groan and push her harder against the wall, and then she tangled them in my hair. She anchored me to her, and I was too far gone to care about what any of this even meant anymore. Kate, Kate, Kate. I want you. But I know I shouldn’t. I don’t want to hurt you, beautiful girl. Give me what I don’t know I want.
Both our phones started to ring, the piercing tones shattering the moment. And I wanted nothing more than to stay in that moment—wrapped up in Kate. Kate was the first to break away, breathing heavily. I leaned my forehead against hers, still holding her up. Her eyes remained closed, but I kept mine open to watch her. I didn’t know what to say to her now. No words could convey what had just happened between us. All I knew was that I wanted more—more of her taste, more of her moans, more of her pressed against me—but I didn’t know how to tell her that. “Put me down,” she commanded softly as she opened her eyes.
T.N. Cole spends her time seeking new adventures, determined to make her life a memorable story. A recent graduate with a bachelor in biology, T.N. is headed to graduate school at Texas Tech to pursue her long time dream of becoming a pharmacist. When she's not reading, writing, or studying, you'll find her trying to stay out of trouble or planning her ultimate dream of traveling the world.

He doesn’t ask their names.
He doesn’t deserve to know them.
Ransom Riley Hale’s friends think his life is charmed: first string as a freshman on a championship-winning college football team. A father with two Super Bowl rings. A mother with platinum albums and multiple Grammies under her belt. But that brilliant shine on the surface hides the darkness beneath; it’s all Ransom has ever known.
Despite the shadows he walked in, once there was a blinding light fracturing the darkness. It brought the promise of hope and happiness. He’d been careless, filled with pride and stupidity and lost that light. Ripped it from the world.

Review- 4 Stars

Thick love is an emotional roller coaster. I was definitely on the verge of heartbreak for 96% of the book. The story flows well, and the characters have great depth. I liked both Ransom and Aly, and felt that by the end of the book, I understood them and their story. I have to tell you though, if you don’t want to be left on a cliffy…don’t read the epilogue. Wait until the next book comes out, then go back and read the epilogue when you can move right onto the next book!
Ransom is suffering from immense guilt that frankly, is very understandable. He holds some blame for his past, however the level of self-flagellation is far higher than it should be. Moving on, forgiving himself, and letting go, should not be out of his reach. Try telling him that… Ransom is a very complex character, there were so many things about him that made him very special. When he wasn’t beating himself up (which is almost never), I saw glimpses of what a great man he was hiding inside. I felt like his death grip on his determination to be unhappy was drawn out a little too long. I was pretty over it by at three quarters of the way through the book.
Aly is a badass. Seriously. That girl is tough as nails, a survivor. But, when it comes to Ransom, she isn’t afraid to be honest with herself about all the gooey feelings she has for him. Her determination to succeed, her love for Ransom, and her need to help him heal, these were all part of hat had me admiring her. I actually appreciated her resistance to being the forgiving doormat. Aly didn’t make Ransom gravel, but nor did she roll over and forgive every time he screwed up. She let him know that he was in the dog house, why, and what he needed to do to fix it. I loved that about Aly, she was very upfront, say it as it is, kind of gal.
The book does drag just a tad, the story seeming to run in circles a little bit. I t could have been cut down to a more concise story, and shorter length. Honestly, I think this book would have made a knockout prequel to the rest of Aly and Ransom’s story.
All in all though, I really enjoyed it. The story is strong enough to keep me turning the pages, and the characters were always intriguing me to learn more about them. It’s not necessary to read Thin Love first, however this book made me curious, so I’ll be back tracking to read that one before the next book releases! I think you’ll enjoy Ransom and Aly, 4 Stars!

Thick Love – Excerpt

“Dance with me,” I said. He only stared up at me blankly.
“I don’t feel like practicing.”
“I’m not asking you to practice. I’m asking you to dance.”
Ransom’s body stiffened when I picked up his hand, but he didn’t fight me. “Just be here with me. Me and you and the music.”
We came together in the center of my living room with that slow, soothing music wrapping around us. There was no Kizomba, no prequel to a seduction we both wanted to avoid. There was just Ransom bending low, arms around me, hand taking mine to hold against his chest. After a few seconds, the tension lessened, and his body did not feel as rigid. It felt peaceful, and safe, and simple—just two people, holding each other, swaying to the music.
His mouth hovered near my forehead and as we moved together with no form or practiced steps, Ransom’s grip on my waist got tighter. “I wish I could breathe again. I want that so bad.” The words were whispered, low.
I closed my eyes, reminding myself that I couldn’t touch him.
“Ransom. You can.”
He looked down at me and right then I saw just how lost he was. This realization didn’t come from flippant comments he made to me or desperate excuses I overheard him make. It was all there right in his eyes—the loneliness, the pain, as though each mistake he’d made was etched into the rise of his cheekbones and the worried, faint lines on his forehead. He was still drifting; he had been drifting for so damn long.
The pain in his eyes drew me in. There was nothing I could say that would make his hurt lessen. There was nothing that would take him from the lingering sorrow he’d created for himself. So I didn’t speak, didn’t give him advice I knew he’d never take. I just watched Ransom’s eyes, and felt the slow way he moved. And then with my hand on the back of his neck, I pulled his face towards me, I took his lips, kissing him, pouring into that kiss everything I’d held back from him since we first met.
This is who I am. This is what I want. That voice came from someplace hidden and secret inside me.
It was minutes, minutes of nothing but my mouth on his, nothing but two people finding solace in each other, before
I realized I’d messed up.
He didn’t seem to want me to pull away, but didn’t stop me when I did. Shaking my head, I smoothed the collar on his shirt, unable to look at him. “I’m…modi, Ransom, I’m sorry.”
Ransom pulled my chin up and smoothed his thumb over my cheek, down the slope of my chin before he returned his attention to my eyes. “I don’t think I am.”
It was a moment I thought I’d always wanted. Him looking at me like I was real, like he saw me, finally saw me. I’d seen that look once before, just as Ransom whispered my name and kissed me over and over the first time. It wasn’t the look of someone hopeless. It was open and raw and I realized right then that I’d give anything for Ransom to never stop looking at me.
But this was against our rules. This wasn’t how we were supposed to be. I took his hand, thought of pulling it away from my face but didn’t have the strength, liked how it felt on my face too much. “Friends don’t kiss, Ransom.”
A small nod, and his eyes narrowed. His grip around me tightened. The music around us swelled. “No, they don’t,” he said, still touching my face, inching closer and I knew, right then, he was definitely not my friend.

Loneliness was the one constant in Andrew’s life. Until one girl, met by chance in a high school hallway, changed everything. Emma Burke was a mystery and all that was beautiful in this world, the only air Andrew ever wanted to breathe. She took the lonely away, and filled it with hope and color, and Andrew would do anything to keep her safe, happy and whole.

But sometimes, what feels good and right is what ends up hurting us the most. And when Andrew and Emma are faced with an impossible decision, Andrew is tested to see just how far he’s willing to go for the girl who owns his heart.

Cuts are deep.

Scars are left behind.

And revenge beckons.

When Andrew finally gets his chance, in college, five years after his first love broke him completely, he finds out old feelings don’t really disappear just because you say you hate someone. The more he tries to avenge all that he believes he lost, the more he uncovers the real story of what happened years before.

Love is wicked. But a restless heart is never satisfied beating on its own. Can Andrew and Emma make it right before it's too late, or will the ties that bind them now destroy their only chance at a future?

EXCERPT:
“Alright, Harper. Who’s the target tonight?” Trent leans over me, startling me out of my trance, grabbing my next beer and taking it for his own.

“Hey, dickhead,” I say. He holds up a hand and orders another one, sliding it to me. “I’m pretty sure it’s your turn this time.”

His face falls and his complexion turns green. Trent and I have this game we play with one another. It started as a drunken dare a few months ago, when he goaded me into taking a girl home from Majerle’s Pub. I’m not suave; I don’t have great pick-up lines. I usually wait for girls to hit on me. I wait for easy. When Trent dared me, I came up with my own set-up—I stole a girl’s wallet. I returned it to her later, pretending I’d found it. She was so grateful she spent the rest of the night sitting on my lap, her arms looped around my neck, her lips sucking on my skin, her hands soon finding their way in my pants.

That first girl taught me to never bring any of them to our apartment. I go to theirs now. It’s easier to leave then it is to kick someone out.

“Fine, I’ll go. But next time, I get to pick your girl,” I say, tipping my beer back to drink what’s left before leaving the bottle on the bar behind me and pointing at my friend.

“Dude, whatever. You know it’s your turn anyway,” he says.

“My choice next time,” I remind him as I walk backward. I know it’s his turn, and I also know he doesn’t really like taking the dare. Trent’s too nice, and he usually ends up dating the girl for weeks after. He doesn’t like to be an asshole. Or maybe he just doesn’t like people to say bad things about him. Maybe there’s no difference between the two.

I couldn’t give a shit what people say about me. Let ’em talk.

I make one pass through the crowded bar, letting my eyes roam over the dance floor and the tables that line the back wall on the way to the bathrooms. It’s a Friday night, so there are lots of girls here. It’s the middle of the semester, too, so they’re all ready to party—no finals to worry about. There’s one group that seems like an easy target, a blonde on the end who keeps trying to talk the others into dancing. I hover around the restrooms waiting for my shot, and when she finally drags the group of girls with her out to the dance floor, I walk back through the crowd, passing their table.

So easy.
Their wallets and purses are all piled in the center of the table except for a red bag looped over the back of a chair, the ID sticking out of the top. I drag my hand along the bottom of the table, and as I pass the red handbag I grab the small plastic card poking from it, tucking it into the sleeve around my palm. I glance up to make eye contact with Trent, and raise the corner of my mouth in a smirk.

“Dude, you are so slick at this. Seriously, if you flunk out of the engineering program you should just turn to a life of crime.”

I slide into my stool and look away from him. I know he was just saying words, but the joke doesn’t sit well with me. I have a chip on my shoulder. It’s my fucking chip, and I earned it. He also doesn’t know how many nights I walk that line with Harley, fixing bets that are illegal in the first place. Trent just thinks I like the workout boxing gives me.

“Well…let’s see it? Who’s the lucky lady?”

I pull my sleeve loose from around my wrist and let the card slide out, flipping it over while I drink what’s left of my beer, and that’s when karma slaps me like a bitch.

She’s older. Of course she’s older. She’s twenty-one, too. But she looks…older. She also looks the same. Nobody looks good in an ID photo. Emma Burke looks like a dream. Her brown hair is just as I remember it, long waves around her bright pink cheeks, lips that stretch into this sensuous smile. I don’t know if it’s sensuous to anyone else, but to me, it sure as fuck is.

It’s also cruel. I swear to god she’s mocking me in her picture, her eyes shining through and looking at me, calling me stupid, telling me what a chump I am for thinking I was some sort of hero or something.

She’s slapping me in the face for being good and decent to her.

Don’t worry, Emma. I won’t ever be good and decent to you again.

BOLD SEDUCTION

An Intriguing Proposition

Passion. Seduction. Pleasure. These are the qualities of any courtesan worth her salt. As owner of The Starling Club, London’s most notorious house of ill-repute, Madame Philomena McGrattan has seen it all, heard it all, done it all. There is little that surprises her anymore, and even less that excites her. So when she is presented a chance at an irresistible seduction, she can’t help but rise to the challenge.

A Dangerous Game

Studiousness. Practicality. Discipline. Such are the attributes of a good scholar, and such are the principles Lord Spencer Hornsby has built his life around. Alone in the Welsh countryside, with only his wolfhounds for company, Spencer has thrown himself into his work. There is little time for the pleasures of society, not even to think of the joys of the fairer sex. But when an unexpected guest arrives at his isolated hunting lodge, Spencer cannot help but be baffled by the presence of this dangerously beautiful woman. And when he discovers the reason for her arrival, and the pleasures she promises, he cannot help but find himself irresistibly intrigued . . .

REVIEW - 3 STARS

This is a quick and fun little read. It’s sexy as hell, and I definitely liked the characters, especially as seeing that 95% of the book is only Phil, Spence, and the dogs. It’s would be a disaster if I’d hated any of them! The book is definitely short, more of a novella length. Which isn’t a criticism, except to stay that the story developed much too quickly.
The back stories of Phil and Spence are both well thought out by the author. Due to the time limit in getting to know the characters, it makes a big difference that their history so clearly molds who they are now. Spence’s family, in particular, were lovely to hear about and it actually made me curious to know his brother’s stories as well.
The attraction between them is steamy and toe-curling, heating up the room from the pages. When Spence begins to become comfortable in his own sexuality, he turns into a dirty-mouthed alpha. Yum! The fact that he is a virgin could have made the beginning very, very awkward, but the author sort of blew past that stage. It is as believable? Probably not. Does that make for a more enjoyable read? Absolutely.
The ending is very abrupt. However, this is also a result of the length of the book. It also ends in more of a “happily for now,” rather than happily ever after.” That is of course, a matter of opinion, but it’s hard to see the happily ever after in a situation between a member of the aristocracy and a prostitute, no matter how much of a recluse he is. It isn’t possible to look at it like a Cinderella story, there is a big difference between being a maid and a madam.  But, in many ways it is an HEA.
It’s a sweet, yet sensual story, and if you’re looking for those elements in a fast read, this is a great option.

Title: Fated to be Yours
Author: Jodie Larson

Hearts are fragile, and mine's been shattered before...

I have always thought of love in the abstract, never something to come true. My past has shown me time after time that those who are supposed to love you will only lead you to disappointment. Destiny, fate, chance...those are things that I never believed in.

Until him.

A chance encounter with a distinct pair of blue eyes and a heart-melting smile challenges my knowledge of life and love.

Because there's something about this stranger that has me believing in the possibility of more...
My eyes fall on his full lips. Lips I want to taste for myself and to have them touch my skin again, in any way, shape or form.
Now’s my chance.
I lean forward, closing the distance between us and press my lips to his. It’s impulsive. It’s not something I would do, but there is no denying I want to do it, I need to do it.
I’m kissing a stranger. And I like it.
His lips are soft and sweet, the residual wine still faintly present on them. Slowly my lips move against his, careful not to push it further than I’m prepared for at the moment. Instinct takes over and I move closer to him, seeking his warmth and comfort, knowing it’s him my body craves. The blood rushes through my ears as the world drifts off into nothingness around us. It’s hands down the most perfect goodbye kiss I’ve ever experienced in my life.
Reluctantly I pull back, missing the contact instantly. He reaches up and cups my cheek, pressing his forehead against mine. Our noses touch. His breath is warm against my lips. I feel something pass between us, something pulling me further into him, telling me that I need to be with him. I know he feels it too because his free hand rests on my lower back, pulling me closer to him. I grab the lapels of his coat as I close my eyes and regain my composure.
“You feel it, don’t you,” he says, breaking the silence. It isn’t a question, so much, as it is a statement of fact.
The world restarts around us, the noise coming back into my senses, reminding me we’re standing on the street in a very public display of affection. Embarrassment sets in as I risk the glance into his eyes, knowing full well that I’m helpless to resist him.
I nod my head and pull away slowly, needing to put some space between us so I can regain my thoughts.
“Goodnight, Andrew.”
His fingers drag slowly across my lower back as I turn toward my car. Risking a glance over my shoulder, I can’t help the smile that appears when I see him place his hands in his pockets. A satisfied smile beams back at me as I disappear into the back of the car, sliding next to Kara.
Jodie Larson is a wife and mother to four beautiful girls, making their home in northern Minnesota along the shore of Lake Superior. Excerpt: Mel, you are in deep with this man and you’ve known him less than half a day. She watched Wynton Grant amble off. And she couldn’t help but notice other women sizing up the rancher hottie too. From the moment she’d set eyes on him she had that overwhelming punch of want—a feeling that happened to her so rarely lately. So seeing the identical look of lust sizzling in his eyes? The balls to the wall woman of action who’d been in hiding for the past six months had awakened with one thing on her mind. Sex. Lots of it. Hot and dirty sex. Fast sex. Slow sex. And it turned out the very sexy best man was more than happy to oblige. This was turning out to be the best wedding ever. The object of her lust stopped to speak to an older woman, giving Mel ample opportunity to study him. The man had it going on. His shoulders were so broad that he blocked the view of the woman entirely. Pity he hadn’t taken off his western cut suit coat so she could check out his ass; she’d bet his buns were grade A prime beef too. Not only did he have a big physical presence, he carried himself with confidence. He had an easy smile—which was a sexy-as-his wicked grin. From the back she noticed his dark hair brushed his collar and held more than a little curl. The groom and groomsmen had removed their cowboy hats as soon as the wedding pictures were done. As much as she appreciated a man in a hat, Wynton looked better without it. Hands landed on the back of Mel’s chair and a soft rustle of fabric tickled her neck. “Staring at him that intently won’t make his clothes disappear,” London murmured in her ear. “That obvious?” “Yes. But if it helps, my brother-in-law is staring back at you the same way.” “Then maybe I’ll get lucky on your wedding night too, Mrs. Grant.”
