BOLD SEDUCTION

An Intriguing Proposition

Passion. Seduction. Pleasure. These are the qualities of any courtesan worth her salt. As owner of The Starling Club, London’s most notorious house of ill-repute, Madame Philomena McGrattan has seen it all, heard it all, done it all. There is little that surprises her anymore, and even less that excites her. So when she is presented a chance at an irresistible seduction, she can’t help but rise to the challenge.

A Dangerous Game

Studiousness. Practicality. Discipline. Such are the attributes of a good scholar, and such are the principles Lord Spencer Hornsby has built his life around. Alone in the Welsh countryside, with only his wolfhounds for company, Spencer has thrown himself into his work. There is little time for the pleasures of society, not even to think of the joys of the fairer sex. But when an unexpected guest arrives at his isolated hunting lodge, Spencer cannot help but be baffled by the presence of this dangerously beautiful woman. And when he discovers the reason for her arrival, and the pleasures she promises, he cannot help but find himself irresistibly intrigued . . .

REVIEW - 3 STARS

This is a quick and fun little read. It’s sexy as hell, and I definitely liked the characters, especially as seeing that 95% of the book is only Phil, Spence, and the dogs. It’s would be a disaster if I’d hated any of them! The book is definitely short, more of a novella length. Which isn’t a criticism, except to stay that the story developed much too quickly.
The back stories of Phil and Spence are both well thought out by the author. Due to the time limit in getting to know the characters, it makes a big difference that their history so clearly molds who they are now. Spence’s family, in particular, were lovely to hear about and it actually made me curious to know his brother’s stories as well.
The attraction between them is steamy and toe-curling, heating up the room from the pages. When Spence begins to become comfortable in his own sexuality, he turns into a dirty-mouthed alpha. Yum! The fact that he is a virgin could have made the beginning very, very awkward, but the author sort of blew past that stage. It is as believable? Probably not. Does that make for a more enjoyable read? Absolutely.
The ending is very abrupt. However, this is also a result of the length of the book. It also ends in more of a “happily for now,” rather than happily ever after.” That is of course, a matter of opinion, but it’s hard to see the happily ever after in a situation between a member of the aristocracy and a prostitute, no matter how much of a recluse he is. It isn’t possible to look at it like a Cinderella story, there is a big difference between being a maid and a madam.  But, in many ways it is an HEA.
It’s a sweet, yet sensual story, and if you’re looking for those elements in a fast read, this is a great option.

Karyn lives in a small town in the western corner of Ontario, Canada. She whiles away her spare time writing and reading romance while drinking copious amounts of Earl Grey tea. Tortured heroes are a must. A multi-published author with a few bestsellers under her belt, Karyn loves to write in different genres and time periods, though historicals and contemporaries are her favorite.

As long as she can avoid being hit by a runaway moose in her wilderness paradise she assumes everything is golden. Karyn’s been happily married for a long time to her own hero. His encouragement keeps her moving forward.
