5* #Review Hard Target by @marquitaval @wordsmithpublic

We're celebrating the release of HARD TARGET by Marquita Valentine!

Title: Hard Target (Target #2)
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: February 16, 2016

Book Description:
Ten years ago, Benjamin Romanov left behind a world of violence and intrigue. Now he’s living the dream as the chief technology officer at PharmGen, the world’s largest provider of vaccinations. The perks are amazing—a luxury penthouse, fast car, and his pick of women. The only downside to his job is reporting employees for less than scrupulous e-mail practices, but when he is forced to confront an employee in the lab, he ends up preventing a security guard from killing an innocent woman.

Receptionist Morgan Tanner never meant to get caught in the crosshairs of a deal gone wrong. All she wanted was one night of excitement with the sexy and elusive Benjamin Romanov. But now they’re on the run, and Benjamin thinks she has something to do with why everyone wants to kill them. Only she has no idea what’s going on at all—she was only in the lab to deliver a time-sensitive package.

With time running out, Benjamin must find a way to protect an innocent woman while keeping his distance… and expose PharmGen to the world before the deadly virus is unleashed.

Review- 5 Stars
This book was a fast read, not because of length, but because it’s starts off with a bang and never slows down! Action, off the charts chemistry, and suspense involving the Russian mob… I want more! This is technically the second book in the series, but they are more like interconnected standalones. You need to read the first book…but you should because it just as great as this one! However, if I had to choose, I’d say this one is my favorite. It’s neck and neck.
The characters in this book, they are brilliant. Morgan is one of the best heroines because she is all sass, sex, and southern. She has her moments when the stress gets to her, it makes her human. She also knows how to pick her battles. When she gets mad at Benji for trying to protect her, it isn’t because she thinks she’s infallible, it’s because he wasn’t open and honest about it. She is tough and strong, ready to fight for her life and add some smartass in the mix. She harbors her own secrets and black past, but it only makes her even more perfect for a man like Benji.
A soft, sweet damsel in distress would bore Benji to tears. He doesn’t realize that until he spends an evening with Morgan, only to end up on the run with her. Despite trying to leave his ties to the Russian mob behind and find a new life, the tentacles are always reaching. He really struggles with the past, but what I find so compelling is, some of what bothers him is the fact that he doesn’t regret parts of it. He’s a bit of a typical man, trying to shield the “little woman,” and doing what he thinks is best for her without consulting her. Such is the way of an overprotective alpha. Although, Benji probably has more justifiable reasoning since he understands the ways of his family and feels that Morgan doesn’t truly grasp what she would become a part of. The web that never lets you go, even if you can’t see the strings.

I love this author’s books. I have never been disappointed and I think Hard Target is one of the best yet. This is definitely on the reread shelf!
