REVIEW- 4 stars
So this is my first Kendall Ryan book...yes I know. I have a few
of her books on my kindle, but haven't read them. I'm intrigued by her
writing. It was thoughtful, flowed nicely. She threw me a few times with
this story. It was sweet, suspenseful and filled with sexual
tension. If all her books are like this I can totally see myself being
sucked into her writing.
Nolan is an ex-Navy Seal who works for a security firm and with at risk kids. He's sweet, sexy and a protector. But he also has another side to him. He has a dark side...he's a Dom. Now I know what you’re thinking this is going to be another BDSM book with a tortured soul. But it's not...trust me it's more than that and that just a small part. His submissive Daniella is a friend who he cares for and protects. See he's not one for love and Daniella doesn't want that. She just needs to feel safe. They feed off each other and it's the perfect relationship...until Lacey.
Lacey is sweet, the girl next door type...prim and proper. Not someone who Nolan would go for, but she's gorgeous. Lacey is hiding something or running, but what? As Nolan and Lacey get closer feelings start forming and the "friendship" lines are blurred and barriers are coming down. When Lacey reveals how she feels, will Nolan choose her? Or is this just temporary for him?
I loved the interaction that Lacey and Nolan had. Lacey was his light and he was starting to open up to possibilities he never thought before. I liked that she was taking him out of his comfort zone and not even really trying too. He just felt at home with her. I was rooting for them...
The secondary characters especially Grey also intrigued me. I wanted to know more about him and in looking forward to his book!
This wasn't just a romance book. It was full of surprises, funny moments and some sexy moments. The twists and turns that she added to story made me fall in love with the characters and turning the page to find out what the hell was going on. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars is simple. I need a bit more in one of the last important scenes. It wasn't as much as I thought it could be. However, overall I enjoyed the story. I liked they didn't just jump into bed right away, a friendship was formed....liked that a lot! I will definitely move up Kendall's book on my TBR list. She definitely can write and was easily a breath of fresh air for me. Do I recommend this....yes!

EXCERPT
She hooked one leg over mine, and I rocked my hips into her pelvis to let her feel what she’d done to me. Lacey groaned. “I take it you liked the massage.” “What gave me away?” I asked, breathing hard against her neck. “A certain wayward southern appendage.” She ground into me again, her hips moving against mine. I almost chuckled. Almost called her out for being too prissy to say the word cock . . . until her hand slid down to my jeans to unbutton me. “Maybe he needs some attention too,” she rasped against my throat. I hadn’t come here for this and wouldn’t have pressed her, but I also wasn’t going to turn her away. We would take things at whatever pace she wanted. Tugging down the zipper to her shorts, I was desperate to touch her and bring her pleasure. I pushed my hand inside her shorts, fumbling when she reached down to grip my denim-covered erection. Christ. My fingers soon found what they were looking for. She gasped as I rubbed in slow circles through her panties. Even with the cotton barrier, I could feel the firm bud of her swollen clit. I sucked in a breath when she tightened her fist, kneading my hard cock. “Together,” was all she said. But I understood. Only a little impatiently, I waited until she had unzipped my jeans before slipping my fingers under her panties. I gave a soft groan at the feel of her hot, slick folds. “God, baby, you’re so wet already.” “All for you,” she murmured huskily. “Touch me, please.” I obeyed in a heartbeat, echoing her moan when she pulled my cock free and started stroking up and down with whisper-soft strokes.
