7 Months (Time for Love, book 7) By Bethany Lopez Contemporary Romance

7 MONTHS Synopsis:

Tough, dry-witted, and intelligent, Ming has worked her whole life to be a successful lawyer, great friend, and dutiful daughter. Her focus has been on her career, but now she's thirty-five, and the last of her friends to be single. Ming knows what she needs... A man who communicates, who won't be intimidated by her position, a partner. She knows this, but all she wants is him...

After working side by side with his brother, Brock for years, Brady has followed his dream and become a police officer. Protecting and serving comes naturally to him, it's what he was born to do, which is why he doesn't know what to do with a woman who doesn't need his strength and protection.

For 7 Months, Ming has accepted what Brady had to offer, secret nights of passion with no hope of a relationship,. But feelings have developed, and now she wants more. When Brady doesn't want things to change, Ming has to decide if being with the man she loves is worth sacrificing everything she wants.

REVIEW - 4 Stars

7 Months by Bethany Lopez is the seventh book in the Time For Love series, but can be read as a standalone as I did. Having finished the book, I recommend reading the others in the series first to get the full experience and understand the other relationships. Even with that said, I thought that this was a great story. It had everything that I always look for in the books that I read- steamy sex scenes (Score! - pun intended), great banter, minimal angst, and a happily ever after.
This story follows the last O’Malley brother Brady, a newly minted police officer, and his secret relationship with Ming, a lawyer who is his sister in laws best friend. Brady, having been slightly emotionally scarred with his parent’s death as a teen, shy’s away from relationships and anything more than a good time. Something attracts him to Ming and they begin a friends with benefits, no strings attached, sex only (it’s hot!) affair. They have this unexplainable raw sexual chemistry that makes him keep coming back. The downfall being that Ming falls for him. Hard.
Being in a non-relationship with a man I loved who only wanted me for sex may be a bad thing, but being bad had never felt so damn good.”
After seven months (Get it? 7 months) of late night booty calls, Ming decides that she deserves more and ends the no strings relationship. This opens Brady’s eyes to what he really wants and he pulls his head out of his ass. He steps out of his comfort zone to woo Ming back to him and take an honest stab at a real relationship- His first ever. Brady realizes that Ming is it for him and won’t ever give her up. When Ming is threatened, he will move heaven and earth to make sure that they will always be together.
“How close I came to losing you, the seven months I wasted, not knowing what I had that entire time, and it hit me. I love you. I left my desk and walked out, not saying a word to anyone. I just knew I had to see you, to tell you in person.”
I really liked both Brady and Ming. Brady was honest from the get go and it was Ming who broke the rules. Once he got passed his hang ups, he becomes the book boyfriend of all book boyfriends. Even with Ming changing the rules, I really liked her as well. She was a strong woman who went with the no strings sex until she just couldn’t anymore. She felt that she deserved more and understood that it was her who had changed the game, not Brady. It didn’t hurt any less, but she didn’t blame him. Brady needed her to walk away for him to realize what she meant to him. I hurt for them equally as they went through their emotional hang ups.
The secondary characters added so much to the story. It made me want to go back and start the first books in the series while I was reading just to I could catch up (I will someday!). They were all so close, I could feel the affection and love for each other while I was reading. Everyone had something to contribute to the friendships and were there for one another. It was the best kind of friendships, and the kind that you don’t see as often as you should. Hell, I wanted to be friends with them.
If you haven’t read 7 Months yet, you need to get on that. Stat. Maybe even get the whole series. Tt will be worth it.
