Keep your friends close, but your enemies close

I couldn't wait to jump into this book.  I needed answers and boy do you get them.  If you are like me and read a ton of books, you probably forgot stuff from the previous book, but Lisa brings you up to speed with a short recap at the beginning...love that and thank you!  

Lisa takes you on a journey of love, betrayal, lies and danger.  You will be questioning everything and everyone.  I kept thinking one thing only to be steered in another direction.  She weaved an exciting and intense story.  

Ella is finally starting to get her memories back, but she's still missing key ones.  When things start to get intense, you can't help but wonder if she's imagining things or is someone messing with her.  But who or why?  Who is Ella really?  Who can she truly trust? 

Kayden will do whatever he has too do to protect her.  She is the one who was meant to be by his side.  But can he convince Ella that she can trust him fully?  Known as the Hawk, Kayden is feared, but with Ella he shows a side that no one else gets to see.  

I adored these two and the passion was off the charts!  They both showed vulnerability, but together they were unstoppable!  They just seemed to get stronger throughout the series.  Ella turned into a badass and holy crap was that a nice change.  Once everything started unfolding, you will see who the real Ella is.  Kayden was alpha, but he also didn't talk down to her.  He encouraged Ella to take her life back and be who she chose to be.  Loved that!

With the suspense of Ella's memories and a feud between two families, ok two mafia lords.  You are trust into this world that is sure to take you on a roller coaster ride.  Neither brother cares how or who they destroy in order to get what they want...power.  Ella is the key, but will she survive?  Kayden and The Underground want what they are searching for too, but do they truly have Ella's best interest at heart?  

Add in some drama with Ella's best friend Sara, you will not want to put this down.  My only drawback was I wanted more with the confrontation with Neuville.  It just happened too quickly.  I also don't know if we needed the snippets of Sara's POV.  With that being said, I still really enjoyed the story.  

Surrender is book three in the Careless Whispers series.  You need to read the previous books in the series to fully understand the whole story.  Yes, you get a recap at the beginning, but you need them to appreciate the relationship between Ella and Kayden.  This is mainly told from Ella's POV.  

If you love books with a strong female character, you will love this.  This was intense and Lisa's words kept me turning pages and I couldn't wait too see what was going to happen next.  I highly recommend this series.  4 Lady Hawk Stars!
