5* #Review Fire on Ice series by @BrendaRothert @InkSlingerPR

FIRE ON ICE series by Brenda Rothert

 BOUND (Fire on Ice, #1)

College senior Kate Camden has learned to adapt - to her last year of school, to the promise of motherhood, to the fact that she’s doing it all alone. But just when she’s learned to adjust, heartache threatens to break her apart.

Pro hockey player Jason “Ryke” Ryker has it all: adoring fans, a promising career, and a beautiful wife. But when his seemingly perfect life is shaken by tragedy, he’s left questioning whether having it all is ever more than an illusion.

When circumstance brings Kate and Ryke together, they discover they don’t have to hurt alone. Bound by a grief that haunts them both, they must rely on one another to survive heartbreak. But that grief is more powerful than they realize, and the tie that binds them together may ultimately tear them apart.

Review- 5 Amazing Stars!

Wow!! That is all I can keep thinking about this book. It was so so good! Brenda Rothert captured me from the first chapter and kept me turning pages in this book unlike I have done for a long time when reading. I just couldn't get enough of Kate and Ryke. My heart ached for these two so many times in this story it was not even funny.

When we meet Kate, she is a young lady still in college and is pregnant. Although Kate is not too happy about being pregnant, she has accepted it and is going to do the right thing and raise the baby. Quinn, the guy that got her pregnant, bolted the minute she told him about the baby. Kate was hurt by this but she knew she had to do what was right. Kate's mom was with her every step of the way so she knew she would make it, besides, Kate's mom had raised her on her own anyway. When things take a turn for the worst in the pregnancy, Kate's life is forever changed. How can she move on from this?

Kate's mom has been begging her to go to a grief support group that she thinks will help her but Kate wants nothing to do with it. Kate just wants to go about her life and not be bothered. One day when Kate does decide to see what this group is all about, she is surprised and actually feels better after going to the meeting. The people there aren't half bad either. Little did Kate know that she was in for a shock when she kept going back to the group at who she would meet. Kate had been looking for a job with no luck after graduating and the group gave her a break from beating the pavement looking for a job.

When we meet Ryke, he is going to the grief support group meeting as well. Ryke is a NHL hockey player that is also an underware model. Ryke is one of those guys that is a good guy that has been dealt a bad hand. Ryke lost his first wife to an unfortunate accident and it has taken him awhile to get over it. Ryke has had no interest in dating anyone else and has just had one night stands. When Ryke lays eyes on Kate at the first meeting they happen to be at together, there is something special about her and Ryke immediately knows that. Kate has walls up though and Ryke knows that he is going to have to work hard to break those down.

Ryke offers Kate a job because he knows she needs it but he also thinks that is another way that he can get to Kate and break down some of her walls. When Kate and Ryke start to spend time together going over his schedule and what all he needs her to do for him, sparks begin to ignite, but not until after some off and on between these two. I immediately fell in love with both Kate and Ryke and was rooting for them from the very beginning. They were just a perfect match for each other even if they didn't see it for awhile.

I love how Brenda Rothert made these characters so relatable. I felt like I was a part of Kate and Ryke's life and was living it right along with them. I just can't say enough good about this story. I can not wait to read Captive now and will start it immediately!! Thanks Brenda Rothert for such a great read!

 CAPTIVE (Fire on Ice, #2)

Two years ago, Jason and Kate Ryker were brought together by grief and bound to one another by love. Now married, they’re confronting their fears together.

But heartbreak finds them again, and the ties that bind Kate and Ryke are tested as she struggles against fear and sadness. As a grief counselor, Kate understands all too well the pain of her clients. And while her husband’s career as an NHL forward is at an all-time high, he’s coping with the frustration of feeling powerless as his wife's hopes slip away.

Kate’s unexpected journey sheds light on the fear that imprisons her, and reveals that she is the only one who can set herself free.

Review- 5 Amazing Stars, again!

I can't tell you how glad I was to know there was a second book with Ryke and Kate. I was longing for more of them when Bound ended!

So, we are with Kate and Ryke after they got married. Yay!! Such a great couple. We start this stoy out finding out that Kate is expecting a little baby. I know we as readers were all on edge wondering how Kate would handle this but she was such a trooper. Ryke was just a swoon worthy in this story as the first too! The way that he took care of Kate just made your heart melt.

When another brick wall hits both Kate and Ryke, will they be able to get past another obstacle? Does their marriage have what it takes to withstand something like this? Well, you have to read this one to find out. I thought for sure at some points in the story that Ryke was going to pull a man stunt and ruin everything, but not our Ryke. He was the one that stood up to some of the women and made us proud!

Kate is finally in her dream job of counseling and does very well with it. When Kate meets a little girl named Melody, she steals Kate's heart. Kate hates all that Melody has been through and the uncertainty of her future. Kate knows that she can't get involved with her clients though. She just has to do her job right?

Kate and Ryke go through their own personal draw backs in this story but some how find a way to get through all of it together. That was their key that they didn't forget I think, Together!! I don't want to give away the whole story in my review but you will love how Brenda Rothert wraps this one up for sure! Such a great story again! I have not read two books like this in a long time. I did not want to put these down until I was done after I started them. I am going to have to read the other books in this series but I am going to miss our Ryke and Kate for sure. Hopefully they will make an appearance though!

 DRIVE (Fire on Ice, #4)

Years of training are about to pay off for hockey player Nikola Vereshkova. A call to play in the big league means he can finally come through for those who need him. His relocation to Chicago comes with built-in friends – and one gorgeous enemy who was less than impressed with him after their first encounter.
Sadie Alexander knows all about the drastic measures men will take just to get laid. She’s not only experienced it first-hand, but lived to tell about it in her online column, Sadie Says. And even though she’s a die-hard independent woman on the outside, the recent marriage of her best friend has her secretly feeling more alone than ever.
Getting close to a foul-mouthed Russian hockey heartthrob was the last thing Sadie expected. And the timing couldn’t be worse since she’s sworn off of men for a writing assignment. The line between love and hate is eroding, and Niko and Sadie find themselves in deeper than they ever expected. Could something that started out wrong end up being just right?
