This story is amazing and so gut wrenching. This is definitely an ugly cry book for me but I loved, LOVED, every single minute of it!! Leddy Harper sure knows how to grab your attention from the very beginning and keep your heart on the line throughout the story! This one is on my highly recommend list!
Layne has had a rough time and was very sick through most of her high school years. When she meets Creed at the age of 18, she is so shocked that she fell in love with him so quickly since she has never really had the time for boys. I fell in love with Creed and Layne immediately and knew that I was going to be rooting for them throughout the story. You could tell from the very beginning how much Layne meant to Creed and that he was going to do everything he could to take care of her.
This story is told in the then and now and I loved that we got both sides of the story. What was going on now and then what had lead up to that point. Very unique and loved it! Layne and Creed are in college and then go on to graduate and pursue jobs in their respective fields. When Layne gets offered a job in another place, Creed is blind sided by this and reacts how many of us would. The two of them decide to go their separate ways to be able to go for their dream jobs, but things don't always go as planned.
After a year of being on his own and missing Layne, Creed finally gets his head on right and goes after Layne. What he discovers and how things end for them is a total shocker and I don't want to give it away because when you read this story it will be so much better if you get all the feels and not expect anything from others telling you. This story stole my heart though and took it on a roller coaster ride. There is a HEA but not in the way that you think! I highly recommend this one but just have the tissues ready!! You will need them!
