Searching for Harmony_Elliott

From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott comes the gut-wrenching story of a love that transcends all odds—and transforms the deepest pain into the brightest hope. Firefighter and first responder Preston Ward thought he had grown immune to the job’s emotional burns. But when he goes out on a particularly tragic call, he realizes that some scenes are too devastating to forget. And yet, if it weren’t for that terrible night, he never would have met the woman who makes him want to risk his heart. More than once, Harmony Banks has watched her perfectly ordered world torn apart by fate. Now she’s finding out that what she lost wasn’t as perfect as she thought—and it’s tearing her apart. The only thing that keeps her going is the kindness of a stranger: the firefighter who saved her life the night everything changed. Preston isn’t like the men who have come before. For one thing, he’s far more genuine. And the love Harmony feels growing between them is almost too intense for her wounded soul. But if she and Preston can push past heartbreak, they’ll find that something incredible awaits in each other’s arms. Advance praise for Searching for Harmony “Searching for Harmony is a heartwarming story of a woman who suffers an unthinkable tragedy—and finds an unimaginable love. It’s a real charmer!”—USA Today bestselling author Tina Wainscott

REVIEW- 4 Stars!

earching For Harmony by Kelly Elliot is a highly emotional, and slightly gut wrenching story of finding hope and happiness after devastating and life altering loss. It is an ugly cry read for sure and although it will make you sad at first, by the time you finish reading it you will have a sense of hope and peace.
Harmony got pregnant at eighteen. Two years later, her husband and son were killed in a car accident, while Harmony was the only survivor. As a mother to young boys myself, I never want to even think about the possibility of going through what Harmony went through. The aftermath of the accident caused an abundance of ugly crying. But through the tears, I still appreciated how such a sensitive issue was well written.
Preston was among the firefighters who responded to the accident, and he was the one unable to save Harmony’s son. As he had never lost someone so young, this hit him particularly hard and he didn’t quite know how to deal with what happened either. He did know that he needed to be there for Harmony since she had just lost those closest to her. They were kindred spirits in a sense.
Preston and Harmony start off as friends, both cautious of each other but at the same time, slowly embracing the raw feelings that they felt. Harmony discovers her short marriage had more problems than she knew, and as time passes she starts to heal. Both Preston and she heal together and come to be more to one another. They complete each other in a way no other had before. And although the pain will always be there, they both are happy together.
Although happy, Preston has a dangerous job as a firefighter. A close call causes Harmony to fear that her devastating loss will repeat itself, and she knows she won’t be able to come back from the despair a second time. But love prevails, and Preston and Harmony are stronger together than if they were apart. Preston and Harmony are due their happily ever after and get it.
With her words, Kelly Elliot took a difficult subject and turned it into something magical. No one ever wants to even think about losing their child, and I felt Harmony’s anguish with her as I read. But even while experiencing it all, I recognized how well written it all was. I especially loved Preston. He is a good guy, plain and simple, and he’s even better for Harmony. They come to have the kind of relationship that others envy and want because it is so perfect.
I recommend reading Searching for Harmony and go into it knowing that the beginning will hurt, but the story of rising through the pain of loss will be worth it.
