I am not much into the BDSM scene, but I adore Laura Kaye, so I gave this book a shot. Whoooooa! HOT! I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to portray hardcore BDSM, without turning me off and making me cringe. I really dislike non-consensual play, but she flirted the line with it and the scene was steamy and sexy.

This definitely falls into the erotic novella genre, which I happen to love. There isn’t much plot beyond their relationship. However, I never felt the story was lacking. Mia and Kyler are great characters with a lot of personality. But, a huge portion of my delight in this book was from the other characters. The other Masters we meet are intriguing and I am really interested to read their books. Surprising for me because, like I said, I’m not into the BDSM genre.

Also, big bonus! We get to see the gang from the Hard Ink books! Yay! This book is a bridge between Hard Ink and her new series Blasphemy.

This is a short and sexy read. It can absolutely be read as a standalone. I highly recommend it and all other Laura Kaye books!
