One twist of the lid changed everything…

The devil sat on my shoulder from my first breath, he watched my every move, and with the first strike of lightnin' I was pulled under.

Walking into Boondocks the voice of an angel called to me and I vowed to live a better life.  She kept me on the righteous path until Satan called one last time.

It was time to take him down or lose my angel forever.

REVIEW - 5 STARS
I have to admit that I had no idea what to expect from this one going into it because I did not read the blurb beforehand, but I was immediately drawn into this story and could not put it down. The way that Casey Peeler draws you into her characters and the whole plot of the story overall immediately is something special.

I fell in love with Chauna from the beginning. A sweet, innocent young lady that has been raised by her father. Chauna's father has done a great job raising her and has instilled in her a love of music, which carries her through some tough times in this story. I was glad that she had this that she could fall back on when things got a little touch for her. Chauna always went with her father to Boondocks, a local bar where he sang and even Chauna sang as well. Chauna had a dream that one day she would be able to work at Boondocks when she turned 18 and eventually manage the place. Her father tried to get her to realize that there was more out there for her and that she should pursue her dreams, but this was Chauna's dream.

When Chauna meets Walker one night at the bar, there is something there immediately that attracts the two. Chauna's father is not so fond of Walker because of his appearance and not really knowing him, but he eventually realizes that Walker is an OK guy and has Chauna's best interest at heart. Walker keeps a secret from everyone though that will eventually cause him problems down the road. Walker's parents are not that good of a role model and expect him to do things that will benefit them and not worry about whether he will get in trouble for them or not. Walker does what he is told, but knows that it is wrong, but he doesn't dare cross his father. He is the violent type.

When things are just getting to a good spot in Chauna and Walker's relationship, a sudden tragedy happens and throws everything off a little, but the whole suspense of this added so much to the story and made the characters grow even more in the story. This is really a good read that you will want to read for yourself and experience for yourself. Great plot and the story flows really smoothly. I enjoyed this one and look forward to something new from Casey Peeler again soon!

Excerpt

Walker
Watching her place her perfect lips on the side of Logan’s face made me cringe. I know I have no right to feel this way, but those two have something that I can’t quite understand, and I’m jealous. The question is, what do I do about it?  As she walks toward me with a huge smile on her face, all my craziness evaporates into the evening sky.
“You ready?” she asks.
“As I’ll ever be,” I reply.
After swinging my leg over my bike, I pass Chauna a helmet, and we put them on together. As she swings her leg over, I hold still and wait for the moment she wraps her arms around me. I take a deep breath as she eases into me and rev the engine to life; all eyes are on us.
“Hold on tight,” I say, and she pulls herself even closer. We take the driveway slow, but when we hit the main road, I pull the throttle and we pick up speed as we make our way toward Sammy’s. As we approach the drive-in, I realize that Chauna is completely right; this place is nothing like it was earlier today. The Sammy’s Drive-In light is lit up like Christmas, and it reminds me of Flo’s Café in the movie Cars. There’s so much neon, and instead of cars, there are monster trucks everywhere. Pulling the bike in, we park, and I look to Chauna for direction as country music plays in the background.
“Welcome to Barber. Where the trucks are hot, but the girls are hotter,” she says with pure sexiness. In this moment, I know that this is just the beginning of an epic, new chapter in my life.
