Feature and Follow Friday! 9/5/14

Feature and Follow

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! More info at the bottom of the post.

This week’s question:

Are you also a writer and what genre or did you ever consider writing?

Question provided by: The Pegster Reads

I am also a writer. The funny thing about it however, is that I'm currently working on a book that is completely out of the genres I will be focusing on after this project is done. This book is fiction, however it is heavily based on experiences from my life and a few from the lives of some dear friends of mine. We’ve struggled with infertility for years, within a culture where family is the absolute foundation of life and it makes the trial even harder. I’m almost done with it, but it’s a very emotional project, so it’s taken me a while. It will also be published under my name versus the others which will be under a pen name.

When this project is done, I’ll begin focusing on what I really want to write, which is romance. Romance of all kinds, I’m not narrowing it down, but rather will categorize it after I think up the idea and begin writing it. They say to write what you love to read, and while my taste in books is very eclectic, the sappy romantic in me knows I’ll do my best work in romance. I imagine that a lot of my work will end up being YA.

  4. I hope your book turns out wonderfully! I've wanted to write a book about my life experiences as well (married/divorced by 22 because of infidelity, among other things), but I feel like no one would read it... Maybe I'll revisit the idea. I'd definitely read your book! It sounds fascinating! I liked you back on Facebook :)

  6. Your book sounds like something that needs to be written. I had back to back ectopic pregnancies in 2004 and cannot have kids. It definitely sets you outside the social norms, but after 10 years, I've made my peace with it. I wish you the best of luck!

  8. That sounds like a book that really needs to be written! My husband and I were unable to have children and it does make you feel like an outsider sometimes. Good luck with it and with your romance books to come! Thanks for visiting my blog! Following you back on bloglovin', google+, and liked you on Facebook. Take care!

  10. Books based on your own experience are great because it means it's a subject that you are passionate about and I think it always shines through in the writing.

  16. I think it's beautiful that you're basing your book off of your own life.
I love writing romances too, but I've never tried writing an entire book surrounding a romance (usually it's just secondary). A lot of my work has ended up being upper MG and YA, so maybe that's why.

    New follower!

I hope you'll check out my post (even though it's a bit late)! :)

  17. Sounds very emotional, I think it's really awesome that your taking your own hard experiences and turning into a book. I definitely agree that you should write what you love to read which is why I am currently working on a YA Contemporary romance. It's one of my favorite genres that I have not once written in. =)
