MOTH TO A
Flame
By K Webster
Genre: Erotic Romance
*Standalone Novel*
~ Synopsis ~
Lia Finch was a popular college cheerleader with a bright future at
her fingertips. One fateful night, a terrible incident redefined her, making
her literally run for the hills. Her new life is one of routine and caution.
She can't ever risk becoming that person again. When she meets Cale, he
threatens everything she's worked so hard to become.
Cale has had a life of heartache and pain. Everyone he has ever
cared about has left him. Now he lives a lonely, empty life. When he meets Lia,
his crippled heart starts to beat again. She's an enigmatic woman that wars
daily between being incredibly tough and completely terrified. He wants to help
her win that war.
When their pasts resurface and collide with the present, the one
shot they have at a future together is at stake.
Can they find a way to be whole again and still find a place in
each other's hearts?
“Look,” she said in a tone that made me think she’d said this
little speech a few times before. “You’re a nice guy and I am extremely
sorry I maced you—even if you did deserve it.”
That last part had me cocking an eyebrow. I grinned at her
and she couldn’t help but return it. But she slowly dropped the smile and
continued on.
“It’s just that you are a client and it’s unprofessional. I’d
never do that to Pops. Can we please just call a truce so we can carry on
a strictly professional relationship?”
She was the kind of girl I wanted to say yes to. To make her world
spin just the way she liked it. She was my green-eyed goddess and I her
lonely disciple, waiting for her every command. But this? No, this
I couldn’t do.
“No,” I muttered quietly, causing her eyes to dart to mine and search for where
I was going with this.
“What do you mean, ‘no’?” she hissed.
In three long strides, I marched up to her petite frame and pinned
her to the table with my closeness, never actually touching her. She
didn’t shrink back like I’d somehow expected her to. Instead, she held
that beautiful chin high, eyes glued to mine.
Leaning my head down to where my lips almost touched the skin below
her ear, my hot breath assaulted her flesh. “No.”
~ Review ~
Lia is a typical college senior until one day, she is subjected to
a horror that defines the rest of her life. Three years later, she has found
some semblance of security and started to see the possibility of growing beyond
her fear.
When she meets Cade, for whatever reason, he immediately sets her
at ease, makes her feel safe. They have whirlwind romance. This is definitely a
“love at first sight” story. But, they are such fun characters, and their
passion burns so bright, that it didn’t bother me. Sometimes, life works that
way, so why not see a fun story of fast love and courtship?
Lia’s past comes back to haunt her, but Cade is strong, confident,
and possessive. He is determined to protect her and his alpha attitude will
melt the panties off any woman, including the reader!
There is just enough thrill and suspense to keep the story moving
at a fast pace, but it doesn’t leave the romance behind.
Lia’s relationship with Anj and “Pops” add to the book’s dynamic.
They both love Lia, but are also determined to help her live a little. Anj is
hilarious, and she had me laughing out loud on several occasions.
Eventually, Lia and Cade’s relationship is drastically challenged
by a revelation that tears them apart. The
foundation may be irreparably damaged.
W. Webster has delivered a really fun read. It’s fast paced, full
of intrigue, and passion. I’ve always been a fan of her books. This isn’t my
favorite, but that’s because it’s so hard to top her Breaking the Rules series!
I really enjoyed this story and had a great time getting to know Lia and Cade!
~ About the Author ~
K Webster
I’m a thirty-two-year-old self-proclaimed book nerd. Married for
nearly eleven years, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our two lovely
children. Writing is a newly acquired fun hobby for me. In the past, I’ve
enjoyed the role as a reader. However, recently, I learned that I absolutely
love taking on the creative role as the writer. Something about determining how
the story will play out intrigues me to no end. My husband claims that it’s
because I like to control things—in a way, he’s right!
By day, I run around from appointment to appointment, wearing many
hats including, mom, wife, part-time graphic designer, blogger, networker,
social media stalker, student, business owner, and book boyfriend hunter. (It’s
actually a thing—complete with pink camo. I lurk around the internet,
“researching” pictures of hot guys who fit the profile of whatever book
boyfriend I’m reading or writing about)
I guess you can blame my obsession with books on my lovely
grandmother, who is quite possibly my favorite person on the planet. At an
early age, she took me to the half-priced bookstore each weekend and allowed me
to choose a book. Every single time, she caved when I begged for two. Without
her encouragement, I wouldn’t have been able to cope during some hard times
without my beloved books.
Currently, I am finishing up my college degree that has taken me
forever to complete. It’s just on the list of my many “bucket-list” goals that
I subject myself to.
Most days, you can find me firmly planted in front of my computer.
It’s my life. If the world ever loses power, I’d be one of the first to die—of
boredom! But I guess as long as I have books and a light, I might just
survive.
Looking forward, you can expect to see two more novels in the
Breaking the Rules Series. I’m nearly finished with the third. Also, I have a
standalone novel that will be released soon as well.
This writing experience has been a blast, and I’ve met some really
fabulous people along the way. I hope my readers enjoy reading my stories as
much as I do writing them. I look forward to connecting with you all!
