Living with Regret (Rain #3)
Author: Lisa De Jong
Age Group: NA
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Mae I Design
I had my whole life mapped out. Perfect guy. Perfect friends. Everything was exactly the way I wanted it.
That was until that night--the one I can’t remember. It’s all my fault, and now the memories are all I have left of him. Of us.
My guilt drowns me until Sam Shea steps back into my life and helps me to the surface. He slowly opens my heart and crawls deep inside before I even realize what’s happening. I know I don’t deserve him.
While I’m trying to get used to my new life, pieces of that night slowly start to come back to me. Lies and secrets shatter everything I thought I knew.
Maybe I’m not the only one living with regret.
Review- 4.5 Stars:
Where to begin with this review.... Lisa DeJong really knows
how to pull you into her stories, both physically and emotionally. I was pulled
right into the book.
Rachel is struggling to find herself and peace with what
happened on the night she and her boyfriend Cory came home from College. Rachel
and Cory just finished freshman year at Southern Iowa University. They have
been together since freshman year in high school.
When Rachel wakes up in the hospital with no recollection of
what happened and why she is in a hospital. Her mother is right next to her not
too willing to answer any questions either. Her father is at work as usual, and
no friends are there. Her room is graced with many flower arrangements urging
her to ask mom how long she has been there.
Lisa builds her characters up in the best ways. You feel as
you know them and ache when they ache. Informing you of all involved in the
story. No one is left behind. I found it enriching following more than just a
few characters in this book.
As Rachel learns of what happened she is so confused because
she has no recollection of that day after going to class to take her last
final. I cannot imagine losing my memory as she has and trying so hard to bring
those memories back to the forefront to see me through.
Sam, Rachel's childhood friend and neighbor starts helping
Rachel pull things together. It seems as though her friends have abandoned her,
leaving her more empty and confused.
I give this story 4.5 stars. You will have to read this book
to find out just what happened and how Cory and Sam treat Rachel. It is
absolutely worth the few dollars it costs. This is book 4 but can be read as a standalone.
Warning though, it will take you through an emotional ride so be
prepared.
