Holy. Freaking. Hell.

Mr. President by Katy Evans is the best book that I have read all year (and I read constantly). I was so excited when she announced the surprise release, and after reading the synopsis, couldn’t wait for it to come out. I thought that it was a wonderful premise, and having been a faithful reader of hers for quite some time now, I knew it was going to be great. But even I couldn’t have imagined the absolute perfection that this book was.

As the only daughter of a US Senator, Charlotte Wells was eleven years old when she first met Matt Hamilton, son to the President of the United States. She was immediately infatuated with the young man, and even went as far as to write him a girlish letter saying that if he ever ran for president, she would work on his campaign. Fast forward eleven years, and thirty five year old Matt Hamilton really is running for President. Never in her wildest dreams did she think this captivatingly gorgeous man would hold her to her girlhood promise. But here she finds herself working on his campaign, while trying to downplay their heated looks with each other.

Matt Hamilton always said he would never run for President. But low and behold, here he is, running for President. A bachelor in his own right, he can’t afford a scandal, but he can’t keep his eyes off of Charlotte either. A stand up gentleman, wanting to truly make a difference, he has a deep sensual side that he can’t hide from Charlotte.

Their secret relationship is on a time limit- if Matt is elected President their time is over. After watching his father not being able to be both President and family man, he will never put a woman through that. But if he loses, they can embark on this highly emotional roller coaster, but at the cost of not being to help millions of people as Charlotte knows he can.

“Have you ever loved someone so much it hurt like hell? I hadn’t until now.”

Katy Evans has written a fantastic political story. I wish that there were more politicians like Matt Hamilton and I wish he really was running! Everything in her book was so great, and with a politics that can be really difficult and somewhat controversial, but she took everything to its very core. The ABC campaign was freaking inspired! Politicians everywhere should be kicking themselves for not having her on their campaigns. I thought that everything she had to say was thoughtful and appropriate.

Charlotte and Matt are both wonderfully written characters. Both so strong and committed to the greater good. I loved both of them, especially Charlotte and I wish more characters were written as they were. They just fit. A wonderful couple, albeit it a secret couple, but facing steep obstacles in their potential HEA. They are simply fantastic.

So what happens? At the end of the book, the reader will know the results of the election. BUT, Charlotte and Matt’s story will continue in a second book! But what will it be and how will their relationship be? I can’t freaking wait!
