Chasing Me by Jennifer Probst

March 3, 2015
New Adult Contemporary Romance
One of the “Sex on the Beach” Novellas

BOOK SUMMARY:

Quinn and James' Story Continues in Chasing Me...
It was supposed to be a love story....

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?
I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.
Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?
If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?
True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy. It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

REVIEW- 4.5 Stars
James and Quinn are a young couple trying to finish college and find permanent jobs for their futures. James comes from a rich family and he has money in his trust fund, but wants to prove to himself that he can make it without his parents money. James meet Quinn while in Key West one summer and decided to leave his life of luxury and try to make a new start for himself with Quinn proving to her that she is his only love and all that matters in his life.

Quinn works and goes to college all the time but tries to be sure and make time for her relationship with James. Quinn loves that James is determined to make a way for himself with his artwork. So many factors come against these two and try to ruin their relationship but this only makes their love for each other stronger. I loved how Quinn and James worked through everything together and realized that no one could keep them apart even though everyone tried to tell Quinn that James was bad for her and she could do so much better.

This story proves that it is not always a good idea to try and change your ways just to please someone else. You have to be true to yourself and everything else will fall into place. Try not to second guess yourself and your actions. This story has a HEA and I am so glad. I was really worried that it wouldn't and I was rooting for this couple. Quinn and James are so good for each other. Jennifer wrote a lovely short story that keeps you guessing until the end.

Finding You by Jenna Bennett

March 3, 2015
New Adult Contemporary Romance
One of the “Sex on the Beach” Novellas

BOOK SUMMARY:

Sex on the Beach, the do-over.
I had a simple plan for what to do in Key West the second time around.

Testify at the trial of the rapist I helped catch last year.
Make sure he gets locked away for the rest of his natural life, so he can never, ever hurt another girl.
Wait for my BFFs to get to town, so we can celebrate.
And stay far away from Ty Connor, because three months after breaking up with him, I still don’t know whether being with him is worse than being without him.
Spring Break, take two.
All of the above? Out the window.
Turns out testifying is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Not only is the rapist I helped catch last year not locked away for the rest of his life, he’s on the loose and looking for me.
Oh yeah, and it’s definitely harder being without Ty than being with him, especially when I have to watch him with someone else.
Welcome to my world.

REVIEW- 4 Stars
This was an action and suspense packed story! I love how Jenna kept you guessing at how this was all going to play out. Jenna threw a little bit of romance in there and made this a really great story.

Cassie and Ty met in Key West the previous year when Cassie was there on Spring Break and Ty was there as an undercover agent working on a case. Cassie ended up falling prey to a rapist that Ty and his team were out to catch and so she became a key witness in this case. Cassie and Ty fell in love and Ty ended up moving back to Chicago with Cassie to see how things worked out for them as a couple. Cassie became a worry wart over Ty being gone and unable to contact her while working on different cases in different places away from her and broke things off with Ty.

Cassie never quits thinking about Ty and when she has to go to court in Key West a week before Spring Break the current year, she wonders how Ty will act towards her. The first time that Cassie sees Ty, he seems to have moved on and is giving all his attention to Carmen, a looker from last year as well. Cassie is still feeling possessive but she reminds herself that she was the one to bail on their relationship because of Ty's job.

The court hearing gets under way and there are several turn of events that cause Ty to pay close attention to Cassie and even go out of his way to protect her. Both of them suddenly realize that the feelings they had for each other are still there and decide to see if they can make things work. Jenna drug you along though because I was unsure myself if these two were going to be able to rekindle their relationship. I am so glad this story ended in a HEA. Thanks for a great read Jenna!!!

REVIEW- 4.5 Stars
Mackenzie is a young country singer that has made a very good living for herself. Mac helped Austin get his big break when they started touring together and even recorded a song together for both of their albums. Austin had a rough life growing up and has since gained Guardianship of his younger sister because of how abusive his father was to him and trying to kill his sister. Austin takes his role of raising Rachel very serious and wants her to only have the best and fulfill all of her dreams. Austin has had to be away from Rachel more than he likes because of his new found stardom. This weighs very heavily on Austin's mind.

Mac decides to surprise Austin a few days earlier than what she was supposed to at one of his concert locations and what she sees sets her head to spinning. This was truly a case of jumping to conclusions before hearing the whole story or letting someone explain their side. Mac and Austin go through their fair share of problems when the tabloids get wind of a situation that Austin caused. Stardom is always a hard life style I am sure and there has to be a very strong relationship between two people to outlast the rumors and accusations.

Mac and Austin finally work through their problems before it is too late and get back to where they should have never left before their blow up. I am so glad this had a HEA for Mac and Austin. I believe that their relationship grew stronger and will stand the rumors because of having gone through this together. Thanks Jen for writing a story that depicted real life troubles even for everyday people. This was a great series!!
