This is my first read by Vonnie Davis and I can promise you it won't be my last!!!! My review is not even going to do this book any justice. This book has it all in it, Humor, romance, suspense and a good moral to the story!!! What more could you ask for??
Kenzie is a young lady that is a witch and her job is to comfort young ones when they are sick. Kenzie has had to endure more than her fair share of heart ache due to an abusive husband that caused her to lose two of her children before they were even born. Kenzie is still in mourning after her husband was killed, but when she goes for a job interview at Effie's house, she has a run in with Bryce. Things from her past rush back and Bryce realizes his mistake at letting Kenzie go while he said he was still mourning his first wife. Kenzie ends up getting the job with Effie, only to learn that this was destined before she ever knew.
Effie is a frisky, older woman with lots of wisdom and turns out to be a witch herself that was sent to help Kenzie with her training and to reveal many secrets about her past. Effie will keep you laughing through the whole book. I loved this woman by the end!!
Bryce is a Scottish shifter that knows what he wants to make his. Bryce has a daughter from his first marriage and she means the world to him. Bryce will do anything and everything for Colleen. Bryce is an Alpha male that has no shame in his kilts and what is hidden under it. I fell in love with Bryce for his protective and possessiveness over Kenzie. In the Scottish family, once you have been blessed off on becoming one of them, they take you in and protect you as one of their own. Shifters and witches usually do not blend together but it works so well for Kenzie and Bryce!! If only all couples had the passion for each other and the passion for a marriage to work, the world would be a very different place.
This story kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. I have never laughed out loud, literally, so much in a book. My husband had to know what I was laughing about and he even enjoyed the parts that I read to him. Little Colleen and Effie are hilarious. Thank you Vonnie for writing such a great story that kept me going until the very end. I loved how Kenzie also took in little Colleen as her own from the very beginning and never looked back. This story has a HEA but I want more and more of them!! All of them!!!
