In
this edgy, sizzling romance for fans of Monica Murphy and Abbi Glines, a bad
boy shows a straitlaced law student how to slow down and savor the good things.
Everly Parker is about to graduate
from law school, always busy, and can’t stop rushing through life. Her late
grandmother left her a bucket list of meaningful, can’t-miss experiences, but
she hasn’t completed a single one. Then searing-hot Max Levin bursts into her
world. As a casting director for a porn production company, Max is loaded,
cocky, and all wrong for Everly. Still, she’s tempted enough to cross the first
item off her list: Go out with someone you’d never give the time of day.
Inheriting a porn empire isn’t every
guy’s dream (well, actually, it probably is), but Max isn’t complaining. It’s
just that until he meets Everly, he has no idea what he’s been missing. As the
pressure mounts to take over the family business, Max can’t help wondering what
would happen if he chose Everly instead. So far, his life has been a wild ride,
but only Everly promises the greatest rush of all: love.
Review- 4 Stars
First, this book is HOT!!!!
Panty-melting, steamy hot! However, if you aren’t comfortable with the more
“creative” side of sex, specifically having to do with porn, and some
exhibitionism, then I’d shy away.
The story
line is pretty good, not super strong but enough to carry your interest and not
feel like it’s all about the sex. Although, seeing as how Max is set to inherit
a porn empire, it’s definitely a lot about the sex. The idea of the bucket list
was really cute and it made me want to make my own.
Max is
shallow but has depth at the same time. I’m not really sure how those can go
together, but they do. He’s open minded to just about everything except when it
comes to opening his heart. I get the guilt he feels at not wanting to
disappoint his father by moving away from the industry and striking out on his
own. When you’ve had the love and support of an amazing parent, it would be
incredibly difficult turn your back on what they see as your birthright, what
they’ve built and cultivated just for you. Max’s character is funny and
likeable, and clearly sexy as hell.
Everly is
stuck in a similar situation to Max, not wanting to disappoint her parents.
However, her motivation doesn’t come from love, it comes from being bullied and
controlled. She’s pretty uptight, like monumental stick up her ass… So,
watching her let go with Max is refreshing. It got a little frustrating to see
them both fighting so hard against their feelings for each other, after a while
I just wanted them to get over it already.
Their sweet
and romantic moments melt your heart and you can see beyond who they believe
they are to who they really are. Then of course, they are stripped bare
(figuratively and metaphorically) between the sheets, and a whole lot of other
places where you can get it on.
I loved the
ending, particularly the cute epilogue, was satisfying and left me with a smile
on my face. Probably not a reread for me, nut I definitely enjoyed it and would
recommend it! I’d also love to read Bens story!
