Devin Lyle and Craig Rockwell are
back, this time to a haunted castle in Ireland where a banshee may have gone
wild—or maybe there's a much more rational explanation—one that involves a
disgruntled heir, murder, and mayhem, all with that sexy light touch Heather
Graham has turned into her trademark style.
"Castle Karney in Karney hands
shall lie, til the moon goes dark by night and the banshee wails her last
lament."
So I feel like I just read an X-Files story. This book was suspenseful
had a supernatural feel and kept me turning the pages. Who or what was causing the problems?
The Krewe Hunters are a group of paranormal investigators in the FBI. This what made me think of the X-Files...lol. They take evidence and use their gifts to help solve the cases. This novella features two of their investigators, newlyweds Devin and Rocky.
Devin Lyle and Craig(Rocky) Rockwell are on their honeymoon, but Devins cousin calls for help. Their has been a death in the family that seems suspicious and Kelly wants Devins help. She feels that this might be the curse, the banshee cry. Is it the superstitious tale or is it more than that? Does someone want to kill the Karney family? Who would gain from killing the heirs? Can Devin and Rocky save her family more heartache or is the curse coming true? Will her ability too see and speak with the dead help?
Heather Graham does a wonderful job with her descriptions of the beautiful Emerald Isle and her characters. I absolutely loved it and it felt so real. The in depth descriptions of the history of the land, the castle and the family was excellent. I was absorbed into the story, I needed to know what or who was doing this. When I finally pieced it together I felt like I could join the Krewe Hunters...lol
This is book 14.5 in the series and I'm intrigued to go back and check the others out. This has some romance, but it's not a big part. This book is a read for anyone who likes to read. Super fast and suspenseful! 4 stars!

Review by Heather Driscoll
She made a beeline for the bed
where he met her, and they crashed atop, surrounded by covers and pillows and
the down comforter. There it was easy to make love again, kissing the dampness
from one another’s bodies, sleek and slippery and still burning with the heat
both of the water and that which came from within.
Finally, they lay spent and
exhausted in one another’s arms, entangled in the sheets and the bedding.
After a while, Rocky said, “I
wonder if there are ghosts that haunt these chambers; so many have died here.
It would be natural.”
“I actually don’t believe there are
any,” Devin said.
“Oh? Why?” he asked, coming upon an
elbow to stare at her.
“The banshee sees that they are
able to move on.”
“The banshee?”
“I met her this evening.”
“What?” He nearly pounced upon her,
rising above her, arms on either side of her shoulders as he stared down at her
intently.
Devin smiled and said softly. “I
met the banshee. She’s the shadow that we see and feel. Very lovely, really.
Her name is Deirdre. But, she’s very upset. She’s insulted for one—banshees do
not sound like that awful noise we heard!”
Rocky moved, sitting up, looking
around the room. “Is she—here?”
“No. She would never intrude. She’s
gracious and polite. Honestly! Do you think that I would have jumped into the
tub as I did if she were?”
“No, no, of course not,” Rocky
murmured. “Can I meet her?”
“I suppose—but she’s not different
from the ghosts or spirits we’ve encountered before. I don’t have a cell number
for her!” Devin said.
He gave her an impatient glance. “Has
she seen anything? Does she know anything?”
Devin nodded gravely. “She was able
to get a bit from Collum, but only a bit. She was late on the scene; he wasn’t
supposed to die. He said something to her about Sir Barry Martin—he who
murdered Brianna and died with Declan Karney—coming back for him as a devil or
demon from hell. Rocky, someone has to be doing this—but who?”
