REVIEW - 4 Stars!
This
book was interesting for me. It’s hard to explain. There were moments when I
was tempted to put it down, but I powered through. Then, I got to the end and everything
clicked into place and all of the sudden the parts I’d read before it became
much, much more interesting and I actually wanted to go back and read it again.
So, if you find yourself in that conundrum, keep going, it’s worth it in the
end!
Kellan
is completely swoon-worthy…when he doesn’t talk. He’s an arrogant jackass and
if it were me, I probably would have slapped him a time or two. He had tiny
sparks where he seemed to show some improvement, but then he would blow it all
to hell. His secrets definitely kept me curious too. Kellan is your typical commitment-phobe
and has no probably being very vocal about any time with him being temporary.
The reformed bad boy is not a new idea, so it wasn’t like I was blindsided by
it. I had no problem with his initial personality. However, where I struggled
was not seeing the reformation but for tiny glimpses here and there. After a
while, I was really ready for the book to move on from that part of the story
line.
Like
I said before though, once you get to the end, everything makes sense and you
start to realize all the little things that made so much more sense. And, he
became a hero worth loving. And, his sexy, commanding alpha attitude in the
bedroom (or wherever their fire explodes) is hot as hell.
Ava
is quirky and her inner dialogue could be pretty funny. She really gets the
short end of the stick with the story. lol. Mandy and Kellan sort of run right
over her with a semi. She isn’t a doormat, those two are simply way too big a
force to be reckoned with. Her attraction to Kellan is off the charts and I
have to say, it’s pretty admirable how long she held out for. Lol. She is scarred,
for sure, and vulnerable, but she also has a sense of self-worth that I
appreciated. Her reaction at the end was a little surprising to me, I expected
more relief, I guess. I kind of wanted to smack her upside the head for a few
minutes. However, they all have their moments like that. They are human right?
Sort of…
These
two practically burned the pages and melted the book. Definitely hot!
Overall,
it was really enjoyable and I might go back and re-read it at some point. I
think it’s worth the read!
