Outstanding. This book is simply
outstanding. I have truly adored this series of books, each one is so unique.
There is a small connection throughout the books, but they can be read alone,
although I recommend reading them all, because they are so amazing.
There
is something about how K.A. Tucker writes, and honestly, I can’t put my finger
on exactly what it is, but it grabs my attention. The background of plot, the
IRA and troubles of underground criminal activity in Ireland, is so
interesting. Then wrapping it around Amber and River’s love story had me glued
to the pages. The details are so great, I was absolutely fascinated. However,
it’s K.A. Tucker’s character development that always has me blown away.
River is a
mystery that you are constantly unraveling, but I fell in love with him the
moment I met him. So, anything new is just one more thing I learn about what
makes him the guys I met in the very beginning. He loyal, hardworking,
compassionate, and very aware of his own mistakes. Despite his familial loyalty
causing him to make some tough decisions, he knows what is right, and he really
does his best. The way he falls so hard for Amber is heart-melting. And his
needs for her in panty-melting.
Amber is a
layered character as well. It’s really interesting to watch her come to the
realization that the world is not black and white. Especially when love gets
itself involved. I liked her strength, the way she took off for an adventure on
her own, forging a new path for herself. There were times when I got a little
frustrated with her reactions, but at the same time, I understood them. It’s
easy to see why she would be conflicted by her feelings for River, but even
more, for entertaining thoughts of turning her whole life around from someone
she has only known for days.
River’s
family dynamic is a huge part of what shapes this story and in the end, if your
sides are not family vs other guys, but rather, family vs family, your decision
will forever affect the path you walk.
This
is a beautiful love story amidst some tough subjects. K.A. has expertly weaved
yet another tale for me to devour. I’ll return to every book in this series.
They are amazing and I hope we haven’t see the last of these characters. 5
